My DD is playing in the USSSA Softball World Series!

Now, I'm warning you right here and now, I'm gonna be a MOM for just a bit and bore you with talk about my daughter. I beg your forgiveness, I just can't help it, she makes me so proud and I just have to let it out!!

Some of you already know about Jenna and her athletic abilities (poor Auti, you've been such a 'sport' ). She's going to play golf at college this fall (she'll be a freshman), but she is also an outstanding softball player. She's a pitcher and she is playing on a traveling softball team this summer. They have been playing in the USSSA Softball World Series 18U (18 and under) in Detroit, Michigan, all week. So far, they have won all their games! (I hope I don't jinx them by doing this!)

The finals are on Sunday and they are supposed to be on ESPN2, but I don't have an official word on that. I hope they do make it to the finals, of course, but if not, they sure have been fun to follow this summer, and especially this week!

Thanks for allowing me to brag!! And by the way, she didn't get her athletic abilities from her mom, but she DID get her determination from me. (That can be good AND bad! LOL!)

Thanks for the best wishes, guys, and sharing in my excitement! I will be driving up there tomorrow morning and I will tell her that my DOD buds wish her and her team good luck. Of course, she will look at me incredulously and say, "How did THEY know?" And then she will figure it out and be totally embarrassed. She acts like she doesn't like it when I give her praise, but I really know that deep down she loves it. She's never been one to call attention to herself or her accomplishments. (Heck, with a mom like me, SHE doesn't have to!! LOL!!!!)

Their team is called the Flying Eagles. If they keep winning, they will play 3 games tomorrow. I hope the humidity and heat drop a little, it's been AWFUL all week. But the girls have been keeping wet towels going and staying under the tarp as much as possible:

Actually, once they get a good sweat going, it's not too bad on them, that keeps them pretty cool. The parents are complaining more than the kids!!

I don't know the ESPN2 schedule, but I know the finals are Sunday afternoon sometime.

The Flying Eagles met up with the state of Kansas. Since I am posting this and you're reading this, this means they lost.

(I was afraid I would jinx them! Maybe I should have burned a green candle last night???? LOL!!)

Well, anyway, it was a great experience just to play in this. And Jenna said to say thank you for your good luck wishes. And I say thank you, too.

Pip, I just found this post. Sorry I am too late to wish her luck, (probably just as well, knowing my luck!), but anyway you have every right to be very proud. She is very beautiful and I know from things you've told me about her in the past, she is an awesome kid! Keep us informed! I like to know what's going on, and I like to do the mom bit and brag a little too! (see freebies received, August 4th, if you don't believe me!). Anyway, tell her we are all proud, and the experience itself was super I'm sure!

LOL!!!! Well, it would sure seem that way, huh!? Actually, I think it was just that they were encouraged to do lots of different things from the time they were little, and found that they liked these things and not others. (Jenna took ballet, too. Can you see her as a ballerina?? LOL!!)

It also doesn't hurt that their dad was pretty athletic and has lots of patience to teach his kids. Though I did play softball, ran track, was a cheerleader and competed in gymnastics, I still wouldn't consider myself athletic. The part of my body that's in the best shape now is my DOD fingers!!

By the way, your daughter is beautiful.

Thank you! What a nice thing to say! I told Jenna, and she said, "Oh, yeah, I'm really beautiful when I'm pitching, making faces and all hot and sweaty!"
Actually, I think she is, though, but again, I'M HER MOM. She wore a hot pink dress to the prom this year, then I found this t-shirt that I got her that says, "Pretty in pink, wicked in uniform." It just seemed to fit her!

snooze14, I know what you mean about hearing about other DOD family.....I love reading things about them! Maybe everyone doesn't, but I do.

Best of all, my dd who will be going to college in 2 weeks got a letter from Auburn saying they are awarding her a scholarship for $750.00!!! This is so great! She already has enough in scholarships to pay her first year's tuition, so this will help with living expenses. What a great surprise!!

Oh my goodness gracious!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You must be thrilled!! I know I'd be ecstatic!! This year we have TWO in college, so I totally understand you being so happy! And what an honor to have so many scholarships. She must truly be an outstanding student. I wish her the best of luck!
