| Re: Someone is using my email address!!
could it be that they entered your email addy by mistake? I've done that once or twice *sigh* I was entering a few contests and I realized after it was processed that I put in the wrong email address.LLuckily the ones I entered didn't belong to anyone. (I sent an email explaining the mistake and it was sent back to me b/c it didn't exist) other than that, I don't know what to tell you. I guess you could just unsubscribe so you won't get any more emails from them. |

I could understand if it was, but there is NO WAY! My email address is my last name, of which is a VERY RARE name ~ there are only 15 of us here in the States and I think 2 more in the rest of the world ~ highly doubtful it was a mistake. The person's profile has no info anywhere close to what my email is!

OK, so after you let go of your anger, have some fun. Change the password in the account, so that the person cannot access the account anymore!!!! If you are unable to do this, send an email to the company explaining the situation and ask them to close the account!!! But, I would first see if you can change the password, etc. Keep us posted!

) ! I'm just wondering where they picked it up. I know I use it to sign up for things here and there, but it's not like it's on "public" access. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yep happened to me. I had one person signing me up all over the net for stuff. What I did was went into them all, cancelled the email I was signed up for and then changed the password on the account to something really weird so they couldn't figure it out and get back in. I also went to sign up for something that said I was already signed up with an email I had never used for that stuff before. Got the password sent to me and found out it was a friend of mine using my email to sign up for stuff. I did the same thing there, plus I emailed the company. They said since it was fraud that they were not sending her the freebie she ordered, they send her a letter instead warning her about her actions. They sent me the free sample plus coupons for my trouble. |

Most times that this happens it is someone you know. If this is not the case, then maybe you posted a link that showed your personal info. I have clicked on a link before that still had the info of the person who posted it in the blanks. I have seen people post this many times also. Once I got a phone card from AT&T that I did not sign up for. I saw the thread about it and clicked the link. I started to fill in some of the info and then realized it was for a business only. I closed the window then. I later got the card with my address and somebody else's name. I must have left my address in when I closed the window and somehow the next person left some of my info in error. One time someone hacked my daughters yahoo instant messenger to get back at her. They wrote nasty things saying they were her. It was someone she had chatted with a bit and dropped. They were mad at her and hacked her. Let us know what you find out. Good luck.

I haven't had anything like this stuff happen to me. Wow, that is really scary! If someone wants freebies.....why don't they just get their own email? Now I know why I change my password alot....LOL

I haven't seen anything new.....I think......come through my email I didn't do. Just an update though...... I did change the password.....which means the "culprit" cannot access her account. Since it's my email address, she can't even have the password emailed to her. I have not heard anything back from the site that was given my email address fraudulently, but I did make them aware of the situation. I checked Switchboard.com for her name and sure enough it was there....same address and everything and even listed an email address! I did take the liberty to sign her up for a couple Christian freebies.....I think she needs a little spiritual guidance. Too bad there wasn't a freebie for the Ten Commandments ~ I think she could've been reminded "Thou shalt not steal" before using MY email address! Just as an FYI...those who know me, my last name, and my email address all agree that this was NO OOPS! There is no way there was a transposition of letters! My last name is not too common that these letters in this order may have just one added, or omitted ~ not feasible in the slightest. I just really believe someone wanted to sign up for something(s), but didn't want the junk email to go along with it ~ why else would they have listed all of their info other than my email? As for why it is my email that was chosen....who knows - I'd like to know that myself! The funny thing is that my email would NOT be something easy to remember, you'd have to check and check again to be sure it was spelled correctly - and I know I do not know this person.....not anywhere near her state and know noone in her state! Hope she enjoys her freebies, gets some spiritual enlightenment, and uses her own email next time! That's my update!
