A question for those of you that work outside the home

How do you guys get away with surfing during work hours? My company has one of those monitor things that logs every page we visit. My manager gets a report every month...along with a duplicate that goes to corporate

yep. I got nailed for having 3 windows open at the same time. One was clearly work related. The other two...well, one was my bank and the other was checking the status of an Amazon order

It came out on the report that I was at all 3 locations at the exact same time...grrrrr.

Anyone know of <ahem> some way to turn their snoopdog off? Or maybe just send it on a wild goosechase? hahahahaha.

I am really, really fortunate -- my boss doesn't care if I surf the net at work. Sometimes I am really, really busy, but sometimes I have nothing to do. My boss knows that if I got too bored, I'd probably look for a different job, so he got me a T1 line to surf on. Rarely do I need the net for work-related issues.

I'm in the same boat as you cashhound we get monitored so I can't use work computer for personal use.

just be thankful you have a job. my job doesn't let me surf the net either.....but it's a job.

DH can't access the net from work either, I mean..he can email, but that's as far as it goes. You have to have a special access code to do it. All email is monitored coming in..if he writes "Hi sexy" and I don't delete it when I reply, it gets stopped and a notification goes out. It's really quite a pain sometimes, BUT it's used to keep racist, sexist etc. content from going around. I never understood why it didn't stop it when he sent it, but only when I replied?!?! Hmmm...lol..well...thankfully some of you can access while at work...wouldn't want to see a flood of panic rushing thru all of us..LOL

I guess you can just call me lucky then! I am a computer consultant, and when I am on the bench (i.e. between projects) I can surf to my heart's content. My company is small and they can't be bothered to monitor our internet activity. Besides, in my line of work we are almost always on the 'net for work-related reasons anyway!

So when work is slow I am visiting DOD A LOT!

We have filters and they monitor the computers at my work..not to mention theres not usually one available to use...also its difficult in my job to use the computer...Im a Special Ed teacher..but when I have my planning period or my lunch I might pop on to check my e-mail to see if any parents have sent me anything as well as other staff and visit a few of my favorite places..its funny all the teachers are doing the same thing as me..we eat lunch quick then go and look on the internet ....and our district gets a report daily that shows activity on each computer related to the internet what sites were visited how many times for how long by who etc..but over summer vacation and holiday vacation and days off I can use my own computer so I supposse it makes up for it in the long run..LOL And on occassion during staff meetings Im looking at stuff on the net on my laptop..LOL Usually when the meeting has nothing pertaining to me but we are required to be there anyways...
