My son is graduating preschool and I want to give the teachers something cute from the heart not the store that's not terribly expensive. (There are about 6 teachers so that could get costly) Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!! (something no more than 10.00 each)

We did this for teacher gifts last year: Take one Ball jar (the kind you use for canning), and fill with ready made cookie mix. You will place, in layers, all the dry ingredients of your reciepe. ( ex: layer one is the flour, layer two is the sugar, etc.) Make sure as you do each layer, you press it down well so it will not mix with the last one. Once you have all the dry ingredients in, close the jar, and tie it off with a decorative bow. Don't forget to tie the reciepe to the jar also . Now, all teacher will have to do is dump in all the dry ingredients you have provided, add the wet ones, and voila, fresh made cookies!!! This really saved on the cash...we can get a dozen jars here at walmart for around six dollars, so it is not too bad. |

| You could get a box of bath salts, like Calgon, a bath scrubbie, some body lotion and put it all in a little bag for a relaxing bath set. Pearl

I posted this idea under father's day ideas, but I think it would be a really cute gift for a preschool teacher as well. You should be able to pick up these supplies rather inexpensively, and it is such a thoughtful gift. I think this would work well for you, since you need to make a few gifts also. *This could be considered either a paperweight or a stress reliever: Fill a latex examination glove with clean sand. Fill the glove until it is very full. Then tie it in a knot. Let the child decorate it with permanent markers, all colors. On the palm area write "To the best teacher, Hands Down!" On the fingers add smiley faces. : ) , maybe hair etc... Write "I Like You" down the fingers [or whatever the child wants to write]. You could write "Thank you" on the back palm area. Add rings to the fingers, etc. ....get creative. Now this blob hand is a great item to set on a desk. It's very unique. It can be posed. Add your rings to the fingers. It can hold small cards. Great stress reliever. You can lay it flat & press down on the palm area to make an indentation. It can hold small coins. I don't think many people have these. When I was experimenting with the gloves all my co-workers wanted one. Keep in mind that you want the glove to be full so that the fingers stand upright. You also need to squeeze out any air that is inside the glove so you don't have a bubble. It is very easy to do. |

Here's what I did. (And I have a very tight budget just now! ) Target had some very cute planters with plants for Mother's Day. They were cute rectangular boxes, about 10"x4", with no top, but with a scallop cut along the top edge. They were made of a very heavy, glossy cardboard, with various patterns, and were lined with plastic. They each had a small ivy plant and a small flowering plant in them, and were garnished with some moss and a pretty pink bow. They sold for $15 each. Luckily , a lot of them didn't sell, and they were down to $1.84 each today! Sure, most of the plants were dead, but I canabalized the ones that were left, and managed to get 6 of them with good ivy plants. I then walked to the garden dept., and bought a small flowering plant for each one for $2.00 each. When I went home and put them together, they looked just as good (maybe better, 'cause I added a little extra moss) as the originals. But instead of $15 each, I payed less than $4!!!! His 3 teachers were thrilled, and I kept the others for when I suddenly need a gift unexpectedly. I was VERY pleased!I sure am glad I'm not using my real name here! |
