go into your profile ( its above the search box at the top right of page) then click on edit options its on the top bar menu then scroll to the bottom of that page where it says avatars then click on the change avatar or load avatar and it will have a place where you click to locate your file then upload

I know if the file is not small enough it will not work, you may have to resize your picture, it has to be within certain size limits. Good Luck!
