My DH is a huge fan of the LOTR trilogy and was absolutely giddy last week when the 2nd trailer was released. I have not read the books, and I'm not anxiously awaiting the release of the movie as he is. So, I was wondering if there are others like him or others in the same boat with me? (Not a fan, but living with one! LOL)

My brother is hooked on LOTR and trying to lure my daughter into it, but she doesn't really like it. She doesn't want to hurt his feelings, so she read the book he bought her for her b-day. Myself, could never get into it.

These were the first fantasy books I ever read. Someone gave me one and told me I would love them and I thought yea right. After I read The Hobbit I was hooked and for the last 24 years that's about all I read. (fantasy, or science fiction) I just finished the Harry Potter books and can't wait for the next one.

About the movie I don't know if I will see it or not. They never look like I pictured them as I read the book so its kind of disappointing.

Definitely my favorite series. I sure hope the movie lives up to the books. I really didn't care for that cartoon version of them. I've been reading Scifi/fantasy ever since I took a course in college. Tolkien is definitely my favorite, with Zelazny taking a close second.
