why don't # of posts w/i a thread increase when you post 1+ replies w/i a thread?

how come if there is a thread, and you have more than 1 reply in that thread, your total number of messages posted by your name within the post does not increase?????

They all increase. All of your replies should have the same number whether you wrote them last year or today.

I'm started this thread:

Free Stuff here.. and my post count is 100.

Then you reply to it with some good info.

So, I reply to you within the thread..

My new post count should read 101. Goes up by one.

Then if you look back at your previous post, it will also

reflect 101.. it doesn't stay at 100. Every single post

you've ever made.. even the very first one.. will then be

101.
