Anyone able to help.. I'm ashamed but I just don't know the differences and other stuff about these places and I'm going there in May.

#1. What is the difference between Disney World, Universal Studios, Epcot and Sea World

#2. Are they all in close proximity to one another

#3. Which should I go see

#4. Anything else you can tell me.. I'm clueless and worried that I'm going to screw up my vacation because I AM clueless.

Thanks all

I'll start
Disney World consists of Magic Kingdom,Epcot, MGM Studios, and Animal Kingdom. They are all close. There are also a couple of Water Parks.
All 4 parks are huge and require alot of time. Magic Kingdom of course is the one we're most familiar with. I think everyone should go there.Character related. MGM is smaller, more sit down things-movie related ...Epcot is very spread out. Includes science related exhibits plus a section consisting of various parts of the world. Very interesting.More walking.Animal Kingdom-animal relatedI liked that one the least because it's zoo like...the others are different from anything you might have locally.

I've never been to the others but I think Universal is similar to MGM studios...

There are several great threads on disney...

Buy a book, read it through to learn what the highlights are in the parks that you choose. Go EARLY in the am for the best experience! Park hopper passes are great-they let you go to more than 1 park in a day.1/2 day at animal kingdom is plenty in my opinion...Have fun!!! (and bring your own water bottle)

I loved Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM, and Sea World. I didn't care much for Universal. Sea World has some really cute shows that feature their animals. They even ask for audience volunteers at times, so you must volunteer for one of their acts. I believe MGM had a show that featured the muppets which was really great. If you have to choose between MGM and Universal, I would definitely recommend MGM.

pandybat ~ I was going to offer to take you but you lose out now.. because you didn't tell me about Disney and the other sites. You see, the 3rd person to post (which was you) was under consideration. LOL

Thanks to everyone for helping me to understand this whole thing. Any additional comments are appreciated, too.

Can't get enough of it - know all about the parks as if I lived there....so ICQ me or email me with your Q's and I will make numerous suggestions....

We are going back in November AGAIN!

Important info that I need to know, how many days are you going? Where are you staying or do you need help with that? Any kids involved?? Makes all the difference and most importantly, are you a roller coaster type person???

Universal (Resorts/Escape) in FL now has 2 theme parks, plus etc.

1. Islands of Adventure (new)
more rides oriented, HEAVY DUTY roller coasters, kids park-Dr.Seuss ,Marvel Comics...etc.

2. Universal Studios (original)
more movie oriented, more "sensation-based???" (tornados, 3D "Terminator", earthquakes) KingKong, ET, Jaws, Back to the Future (a stationary, but moving ride, huh?) & not as much jerky ride-based...etc.

3. Citywalk - nightlife, bars, restaurants, moviehouses (free access)

For the past year Universal has been running deals and trying to undercut Disney. They send me tons of videos and brochures, even though I mainly sell Europe!!
I think one of them has a reproduction of a jungle ruin in India!!!
There's a new one down there like the Holy Land. I forget what its called!!!

Another Disney family of junkies here...we have gone min of once a year for the past 11 straight years..have been twice about 5 of those years. Did the cruise last year & are doing it again this year...DH is taking the kids to Disneyland in may (while I visit my Mom in Fl.) We don't leave Disney property...personally MGM is my favorite of the parks..The Hunchback show gives me shivers every time I see it, incredible talent. Second fav for me is Epcot, then magic kingdom, then animal kingdom. DH's fav is the magic kingdom..mainly because of it being Walt's baby.

My DH and I took an adults only vacation last year and went to Islands of Adventure at Universal Studios. They have a couple of amazing rollor coasters. The Double Dragon is awesome. There are a couple of times when you begin to think you are going to crash into the coaster running next to you. The Incredible Hulk coaster is huge...my heart is racing just thinking about it.

When we went through Dr. Seuss's kids part, we were looking for some kids to "adopt." It looked like a lot of fun. Plenty for them to do. We kinda figured we'd get hauled off if we played in there without any kids of our own...lol.

We didn't do Disney. I know...It's breaking all kinds of laws to go to Orlando and not see The Mouse...hahaha. We just ran out of time.

Oh yeah...nearly forgot. At Universal they also have a stadium sized movie theatre. They run new releases and it's cheaper than what we pay locally.
