Anyone else have racing thoughts constantly???

For years I have had racing thoughts, so fast that my mind can't keep up. Its especially difficult to fall asleep while these thoughts are racing. The crazy thing is that I seem to fall asleep faster if I think about movies and play the movies in my thoughts, instead of thinking about other stuff. BUT this is hard to do most of the time. Anyone else have racing thoughts, and what have you done to help get better??? I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea and am using a CPAP machine, but haven't noticed a difference in how I feel during the day and after waking. I know that its not hopeless, but sure is difficult to deal with. These problems make life much harder. I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm whining, I just feel so impatient and stressed because of it all. I'd appreciate any good advice or relief of any kind. Thanks.

Are you of an age where you might be entering perimenopause -- and that really means anywhere from late twenties to mid-fifties? Racing thoughts are sometimes a symptom of hormonal changes. For more details, take a look at this thread from a forum on peri:

Yah I did, I went to the doctor and she put me on 10 mg Lexapro...I have never felt better.

I have GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) I panic about everything, but nothing in particular.

The Lexapro helped me so much. I couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, I lost 10 pounds from not eating. The doctor noticed the weight loss and we went from there.

I wish I could here what you racing thoughts are?I've been dealing with GAD,racing thoughts & more for over 10yrs,plus other problems.I always ask my spouse"do you have these thoughts,or think like this"?There are so many variables in life,past,present & future & our minds can go from one thing to another thinking about all of this,the then & now & whats to come/happen?Maybe it gets worse or harder as we get older because we've absorbed & experienced so much in our minds,lives etc.We have now used our brain much more than when we were children.I haven't had much help.so I just hope it will workout & at least not get worse.
