Anyone check out this criminal locator site yet?
It was started by John Walsh, it's great because you can put in your address and see who has criminal convictions, which are public record, that live near you. This includes sex offenses.

It is great if you have kids, they even have the police photos of the people, so you can see if it is someone you see around your kids and warn them to stay away!

Wow.

Seeing that map is waaaay scarier than looking at a list!

Did you notice that there's a notification option on the site? (One of them is by subscription, but the other is free.) I know that some counties send postcards when an offender moves into your neighborhood, but where I am, they don't. I'm definitely going to take advantage of that service!

Wow, 36? That's a lot. Of course, I was suprised, because other than Groundhog time, this town is so very quiet, but we had 14 of them here, most near to where we live. We will be moving when Andy's graduates and I will be checking that site first, when we have a general idea of where we are going.

There is a guy that lives on our street about 6 or 7 houses down that is on the list. He is on it for rape. He is also right behind the high school. I didn't think they could live so close. My kids don't play at that end of the street, but they know what house it is and to stay away.
