What do you do?

When there is a free offer, but they require you to put down your phone number what do the rest of you do? I don’t mind putting my real/personal E-mail down (my brother is a computer tech. and fixed my E-mail so family and friends go in one box and junk in another, I just don’t look at it I just DELETE…..and my DOD E-mail’s go in “friends box”…..BTW) Some of the offers are good, but I will not participate in them if they want a phone number. What do you do?

I never put my real phone number. I put down my real area code and the first 3 digits of my real number, but I make up the last 4.

And about the email address, I have one email address that I just use when I send away for freebies, that way my personal email address doesn't get junked up. I check the freebie email address a few times a week briefly.

So what you just did was give them some one else's number! I give them my number if I truly want the offer I give them my number.

I usually put all 0's, sometimes it wants the area code, so I put my area code and then the other 7 digits I put 0's.

Sometimes I put my real phone number. Not often though.
Sometimes I put my real cell phone number. Just started doing this.
Sometimes I put my real area code and the rest all 9's.
Most times I put all 9's....even for the area code!!!

I figure if I put my real area code and the real first 3 digits of my phone, it can't be that hard for them to look me up since they already have my full name, address, city and state!!

i just usually dont participate... i will giv emy email address out as i have one email for spam and such, but i wont give my phone number out because it just becomes annoying when the phone is constantly ringing

I think most places ask for phone numbers so they can verify your address against it. I don't think they would call, especially if you are on the "do not call list".

Jenn's right, area code and 555-1212 works, as does 0's and 9's. I don't use my real # as it's unpublished.

Yeah, I like that (area code and 555-1212) I think that's good.....no one has a 555 number it was made up by the movies.
