It seems that these white postcards are from the publisher trying to get you to extend your subscription, although it looks like it is a bill. I asked him if I should cancel my subscription and if doing so would cancel my FREE subscription. He was a bit puzzled but said that I probably should just wait it out and not cancel. With my confirmation numbers, he was able to verify that yes, I DO have 3 free subscriptions to Woman's Day that will start in February. I am very happy about this! Hopefully this will take care of the problem. If you have any questions, call enews at 1-800-361-4132. It would really be great if you could find your confirmation email with your confirmation number on it. The CSR was very helpful! I can now call my sis and friend and tell them that all is ok! :-)

When I signed up for 6 free months of a mag. from enews, I also started receiving payment requests before I even got the first mag. I called them and they said what the above poster said: the magazine company sends out those renewals for the period of time after the free ones. I just ignored them as they kept coming and I am still receiving all the magazines.

Okay...I just got off the phone with enews...very nice people..they assured me that Barnes and Noble has paid for 17 issues of Woman's Day for me. She said they have been getting a lot of calls about this. I told her..that she should protest mightily to the publisher or whoever is sending these cards out, since it makes them look bad. Barnes and Noble is doing a great thing by giving out these mag subscriptions, and it looks like a scam when the cards are sent out. She agreed. so...call if you need reassurance like me,,but I think you can just throw the card away. (notice there is not even a name of who sent it on the return address? sheesh!) |

Ohhhh good. I hope Marie/smhop sees this, since the CSR she talked to told her she knew nothing of it. Which of course lead us to all believe we were "tricked" into subscribing! Thanx scruffers! [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] |

It occured to me that these were renewal cards we were seeing. In my mind that makes it no better! Many people will simply pay it, thusly they were still tricked into spending money they didn't have to (albeit on a continuation of said subscription)----> IE: what basically comes down to a half price subscription, not a free one. I called my mom up when this offer came out, she said sure she'd take a yrs worth of women's day for free... I know that when the bill comes, my dad will just paying assuming it is something she wanted. I KNOW that had I called my mom and said would you like 2 yrs of women's day for $12, she would have said no. This is a tricky way for them to get subscribers... and believe me, I am sure they are making pently of money off of renewed subscriptions. M |

smhop, I didn't mean for my post to sound like you gave us bad info, I was meaning I had hoped you would see this so maybe you would feel better about it. If this is something they send out to new subscribers than I can understand why we all got one. I don't think they should have to go thru and pick out the ppl. who got the free subscriptions. My card didn't say to send such and such amount. It just said my subscription for $11.98 (whatever the exact amount was) was received. So it wasn't like I even had an address to remit payment to.
