| Card Shower I will tell you some about the person this card shower is for, he is my bil. His name is Lawernce and his sons name is Michael. Lawrence was in a explosion at his factory (story below) he is burnt on 77% of his body with right at 4th degree burns. This happened on July 8 and they never gave him to live thru the night. Well by the grace of God he is alive still. He had troubles with fluid and his tummy swelled bad. They ended up opening his stomach up and he is still open, and covered with sterile wraps. He has already went thru 2 other surgerys to clean his burns on his arms and legs. They had to remove his right foot, not bc of burns but bc of circulation problems. He was not burnt on either foot or his stomach and a small place across his back where his belt was. They have him in a coma and have his body parylized. They have not woke him up yet and will not for a bit yet. We received good news that he is now breathing 18% on his own so they apparently have lessened his meds some. I have not seen him but twice, once the day it happened and then last Sat. He is in the hospital 2 1/2 hours away from me so I just have to rely on my sis to let us know how he is. Of course she is doing great to keep us all in touch. The hospital told us that he could receive cards so we are trying to get him cards sent to him so that when the day comes that they do wake him up that he will see how many prayers that have been going up for him and how much he is loved and appreciated. Michael is only 14 and is being so strong for his dad. He goes to the hospital daily and reads to him. I am so proud of him. If any of you would like to send Lawrence & Michael a card it would be greatly appreciated. If you pm me I will gladly give you his addy. We are sending to one of my sisters house so that we know that Lawrence will get these. You know how busy hospitals are. Please pray for Lawrence and Michael, also pray for the man that saved him. I am sending him a card also. He says that he is no hero, but he really is. If I don't get right back with you then please be patient with me, I am also running my husbands grandma back and forth to the drs and hospitals. I will get back with you as soon as I can. Thank you all! Here is the link and the story. The other man that was living when this article passed away at the hospital the same day. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] Carthage plant fire kills one BY FEOSHIA HENDERSON | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER CARTHAGE - Several explosions ignited a large fire at a fat-processing plant Saturday, killing one man and leaving two others who were inside in critical condition. A fourth man escaped the fire. The two injured men were taken to University Hospital. Identities were not released. The fire started Saturday around 12:30 p.m. at a six-story manufacturing and warehouse building, 120 Citycentre Drive, run by a Minnesota-based company called Origo, formerly known at Tri-State Grease & Tallow Co. The building is near the Jim Beam Brands plant off Interstate 75. Witnesses said they heard three or four explosions at the building. A neighbor, Charles Norman, said he called 911 about the fire. "It was just smoking and went ka-boom!" he said. "Then flames burst out of the bottom floor. I heard someone holler out for help." As firefighters worked to get the blaze under control, dozens of people who work and live near the plant ran toward the building to watch the fire. Officials moved onlookers away from the site as a precaution, but no other explosions occurred. Smoke poured from the building. Firefighters quickly brought the main fire under control and managed several smaller fires throughout the afternoon. Around 3 p.m., the three-alarm fire was largely contained but the building had partially collapsed, said Cincinnati Fire District Chief Fredrick Prather. Anthony Wayne Avenue was closed from Vine to Galbraith for hours as firefighters battled the blaze. A dozen fire companies responded to the fire. Crews spent hours shooting huge streams of water from elevated ladders onto the fire. Gregg Anderson of Highland Heights, Ky., said he could see the smoke from miles away as he drove south on I-75. "Wow. I've never seen such thick, black smoke," Anderson said. Cincinnati Police Lt. Tom Lanter said four people were reported to be inside when the fire started. One worker, who was not injured, rescued one of the two workers who were burned. Firefighters have been to that company before. In January 1999, 10 fire companies were called to put out a fire that started when an employee was welding a pipe that transports grease to a storage container. A spark ignited grease. The employee escaped injury. Origo processes fat to be used for animal feed, according to company Web site. It's a family-owned business started 35 years ago by Lawrence Hippert Jr. Hippert's son, Michael, heads the Cincinnati facility. Another son, Bruce, runs the company's main facility in New Ulm, Minn. No one answered phones at the Cincinnati or the Minnesota Origo offices Saturday

| Re: Card Shower I just wanted to update everyone. Hubbys grandma was released from the hospital on Sunday. She is doing great, Thank God! Lawrence has went thru another surgery today to clean up the burns on his back. They haven't closed his tummy yet, they have put in a treah bc they said he would need the machines for a while. On a great note, they are trying to wake him up gradually and today he opened his eyes 3 times. I am so excited and am thanking the Lord very much for this. I know that he is preforming a miracle daily for Lawrence. I want to thank all of you for the prayers and the cards. They are greatly appreciated! ![]()

| Re: Card Shower Yes, we have actually had several posts on here for card showers, and many members, me included, keep a whole pile of assorted cards around, so we always have something appropriate when a situation arises that calls for it. I often find them at my local Goodwill, I can get a whole package of assorted cards, never used, with envelopes, that people have not used, so they donated them, for $1.99 or less. I would love to send a card, you can email me at the email that I have in my sig line, or send me a pm with the address. Many blessings to him and the entire family. |

| Re: Card Shower Sorry I haven't updated for a while. Just so much going on. Lawrence had to have his right foot taken off from above his ankle, they had to take all his fingers from the knuckle to tip off on both hands, they finally closed his tummy up! We were heartbroke over him loosing his foot and then parts of his fingers......but he is alive! They have turned his breathing machine down to 14 now. He is breathing anywhere from 10 - 15 above the machines He is getting ready to go thru another surgery Monday on his back, something with his skin. Thank you so much for the cards and prayers that youn's have been sending for him. Please continue to pray for him and if you want to send more cards they are greatly appreciated.![]()

| Re: Card Shower Oh June, This has got to be so hard on you and your entire family - I finally mailed out one card and have another to send in a few days. I wish he didn't have to lose fingers or a foot, but you're right, he "is" alive. God Bless you all..... and he is and is taking care of Lawrence as well. You hang in there, please? You've got the three little ones too, and this is just nothing anyone or their loved ones should have to go through! Blessings and Prayers, Kat - Thank you for update, we all appreciate them, anytime you get a chance is fine.

It is hard on us, but my boys have sure had a worse time. The last two years have been very hard on them. I am just puttin my trust in the Lord, he knows best even if we don't understand. You all are great encouragement for me and I really appreciate it. So much has happened the last two weeks that it has been pretty tough. I won't get started, could be here a while. Just please continue to pray for our family. ![]()

You'll be in our prayers as long as you need them (and maybe after too!). If you need to just type and vent here, this is the place to do it, and I and many others care about you and your boys, and extended family too. It just sounds like you're going through, have gone through and some of it is still going on, so "much" lately, I really feel for you and yours. (((Gentle Hugs))) Kat
