I know you will all understand.

Andy (for those of you who don't know, this is my hubby) has had a swelling behind the right ear for awhile now. The doc tried anti-inflammatories and such to see if it would clear up on its own, but it had just gotten worse.

It seems to be in the lymph nodes, as that is the swollen areas and it is above the skull bone, but under the skin, but it is affecting him very badly. His has blurred vision, vertigo, migraines, pain all down his left side, his left side also feels like it does when you arm or leg falls asleep, except it is that entire side of his body, including his face. He has had trouble thinking and processing stuff, as well as with cognitive reasoning. He had an abcess awhile ago, that had spread to his lymph nodes, so we are hoping it is just leftover from that, perhaps some that didn't totally clear up, or perhaps a viral infection as all his symptoms seem to match that.

The weekend before last, we had company, my friend, who I had just told about his problem the night before, when she took me to the pharmacy to pick up his prescription, walked up behind him on Sunday and whapped him on the head hard, repeatedly, like his head was a basketball and it has just been getting worse ever since them.

Please send all your good thoughts and vibes our way. If this is something that will stop him from finishing school, or affect his brain and intelligence, he is going to be so devastated.

I am trying to hold back tears as I type this, hoping it turns out to be nothing serious and something they can easily fix. Anyway, he goes in for a Cat Scan at our local hospital here in Punxsy, our docs office is having it done here so he doesn't have to drive all the way to their office anymore than he has too. So I am hoping we will get some results soon so they can clear this up.

An friend who hasn't the brains of an earthworm, and I use the term friend very loosely here.

Anyway, the good news, apparently it isn't anything really dangerous, because if it was, they would have made him see a doctor right away there at the hospital (Like if it was an aneurysm or something) or they would have insisted he see his doctor immediately, but they didn't. Just said he was done and his doc will have the results tomorrow.

So I feel a little more at ease anyway, though the swelling is still spreading and he is still miserable. While I was sitting there waiting for him to finish, they had paged the doctor in too see two other patients that had to be taken back and seen immediately, so it apparently isn't anything life threatening anyway.

Ver, my prayers and good thoughts are out to you and Andy. I hope WHEN Andy gets better that he takes a 2X4 upside that so called friend's head!

I had a knot on the back of my head on the left side. It started years ago and through time kept getting bigger. It got to be the size of a golf ball. It was painful to lay my head on a pillow. I usually sleep on my left side. So this was causing me to lose sleep. (And believe me...I LIKE my sleep!) It got to the point that I could not take it anymore. I broke down and went to the Doc.

To make a long story short.....it turn out to be an oil gland around the hair folicle(sp). It had gotten plugged up so no oil was being released, but the oil was still being produced. Since the oil had no where to go, I was blessed with a painful, golf ball sized knot on the back of my head. I was teased about it alot. I use to say that what caused it was that I was abducted by aliens and they had put an implant there to monitor me. Has Andy had any strange disappearances lately??......

Ver, I sincerely hope everything turns out ok. You and Andy are definitely in my prayers tonight.

Well the swelling is still getting larger, so he is miserable and in a lot of pain. I am hoping the doctor gets back to us ASAP and that they can take care of this.

Thank you all for you well wishes, it makes me feel a lot better and means a lot to Andy as well. He is so close to finishing school now, just two more semesters, so this whole thing has him very worried.
