Hey Ver they sent my hubby to a psychiatrist to teach him to deal with his pain. He was told that there was not a lot he could do for him because he had all ready taught himself to deal with it. There are days when he sleeps in the floor because the bed is not firm enough for him. He had back surgery then was inside of a trailer loading it when the dolly's collapsed throwing him up between the steering wheel and boom of his fork lift. His spine now works in and out where they removed his disk. He spent 6 years fighting SS before he finally got his disability started. One of the first reasons he was turned down was his age how stupid is that. Any way I have some ideal of what you are going through and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ver, I'm sorry you have to go through this. I can't even begin to imagine how you suffer. I wish I had some advice or magic cure for you but I don't.

Thank you everyone, knowing you all understand and are praying for me and thinking of me does help a lot and means a lot to me as well.

It just gets so frustrating sometimes and depresses me, I mean, it was not in my plans when I was younger to be disabled before I even turned 35. I still struggle with having to use a cane most days when I leave the house.

awww sweetie. I was almost crying while reading this. I have had a taste for the first time in my life with a chronic illness that I have been battling since September. My heart goes out to you- I know the claustraphobic feeling of not being able to escape, and the hopelessness that sometimes comes when you realize how long you have lived with this pain. I am so so so sorry my friend. So sorry. Please don't measure your worth by productivity, it really is a new way to live now. Being happy is the most amazing thing you can do during this season. Thanks mayfly, I desperately needed to vent, poor Andy can only tolerate hearing so much. He worries about me and cares, but it just isn't fair to lay it all on his shoulders all the time. The poor guy has enough to deal with.

I have to say that when you have chronic medical condition, you really find out if your spouse/SO really loves you or not. He has lost sleep he needed for school to stay up with me at night to rub my back or just cuddle me if I needed it. He is the awesomest hubby alive.

Sorry to hear about your illness as well mayfly, hope things get better for you soon.

Isn't that the truth Verwon!!! I discovered that I could not have a better husband, and I thank God for him.

I know how you feel about venting to him, it makes my husband so sad. Its worse to see him sad and bummed out than it is going through it. You vent to me any time baby. (((((hugs))))))) Have you thought about going through yahoo.groups and looking for a group that deals with chronic pain, or back pain? I got a lot of support that way also.

My God, you poor thing. Keep fighting for your SSI - I'm in the process now. We're living on Marks SSD and many times, it's not easy. We did get an attorney who knows how to "ask" the right questions and get the answers she needs from the Drs.
My case hasn't come up yet, but Marks went right through, though I don't know how it would've gone without our attorney-she's really good.
I'm so sorry you're in so much pain daily - I tried acupuncture and it made me worse - it was a joint decision by the Dr. and I to discontinue it. I know it works for some, but not for all.
I have no real advice for you, other than when your body needs extra rest, get it. It's telling you that for a reason. Hang in there, I've been putting off a hip replacement now for 7 years on a surgeons advice - he wants me to be older, lol. I thought I was old! And since Mark got approved for SSD, (this is probably a CT thing), my state insurance was immediately canceled!

I haven't checked out the yahoo support groups much, I usually have been hanging out at BrainTalk, they have forums for people with various conditions, so you can talk to someone going through similar issues.

We are living on Andy's SSD, but my son and I are still covered through the state Medicaid. SSI has turned me down over and over, now I have to reapply and start all over, oh goodie!

My husbands was the same way, his went right through and he got approved really fast.

Mark didn't actually go right through - I don't think there's any such thing in CT - it took over a year and a half.....mine will take even longer (just for insurance), as we're very short on judges to even hear cases now. Two aren't doing it anymore.
Have you thought of calling Legal Aid in your area? I know here, they take the SSI/SSD cases all the time - no charge. Just a thought...
