Re: My dd starts high-school next week ....

My oldest will be starting college in a couple of weeks. My youngest are going into 3rd and 4th grade so it will be a while before we have another in high school. A word of warning. Start saving now for her Senior year. It seems like everyother week he needed money for something like cap and gown, pictures, ring, etc.... I spent more that one year then all the others put together.

I know how you feel! My daughter is going to be a sophmore, and I can't believe it. We had her when we were really young, it seems like we are too young to have such a young lady for a daughter!!!

My oldest is starting HS, as well. She's already been training with the HS girls Soccer team since May. It's really weird.

Re: My dd starts high-school next week ....

I think she is excited about starting HS, but I don't think she is excited about the "return to homework". She has been having a lot of fun with the high school soccer team. They just finished playing a big tournament 3 hrs. away this past weekend. I think she really enjoyed bonding and getting to know the "upper classmen". I think this helped a lot since most freshmen are "looked down on" by the upper classmen. I haven't heard her talk about homecoming yet. I compeletely forgot that she will be having a homecoming this year. Homecoming is now like prom around here. I don't look to the expensive outfits (casual clothes worked well for the MS dances). ack!!

Re: My dd starts high-school next week ....

My DS is starting high school this year too. I can't believe it! We went today to pick up his schedule and find his locker and classes. Unfortunately he is going from one of the newest schools to the oldest. He's excited about going back but I know he's not looking forward to the homework.

It feels like just yesterday I was a freshman in high school. Twenty years later and I hardly feel any older even with him going into high school. Time flies.

Being an old school does not make a school bad Jilly. I hope they have good teachers and good programs there. More important.

My youngest is a Sophomore in college this year. (I have 3 college grads so far) But I remember well all those firsts. Big adjustments. Good luck.

I absolutely agree with you Chippers. The school district is fantastic and the main reason why we built our house where we did. I meant unfortunately from an aesthetic point of view. It's kind of like going from a brand new car to an old one. All the parts still work but it's just not as nice to look at, you know?

DS was IMing his friends yesterday and so far he only has one class with two of them and those two won't be in the same lunch period. Guess it's time to break out of the shell and start making more friends!

I go back to school on the 22nd. Can't wait! The summer has been nice, but I am ready to start taking classes again. Staring all my major stuff this year, so I'm excited (3rd year of college.)

Re: My dd starts high-school next week ....

High school is a living nightmare. I hated all 4 years and was not sad at all the day it was over. I got so sick of all the drama or the whining. It was always something causing chaos. College wasn't much better. I like being an old lady! I feel sorry for children. Most aren't groomed or prepared to be able to withstand all the misery they'll have to endure at the hands of their peers. To all of you with children below 21, God bless you all and the kids too.
