Virgin to London has great airfares and packages, Lufthansa to the rest of Europe, British Midland within Europe, Eurail website and 800 # is a disaster, go thru AAA or another travel agent, Hotels Super 8s in the US, Formule and Ibis in Europe (Ibis is on a building spree in Paris and driving down rates), smarterliving.com and Consumer Reports Travel Letter are really good sources of info and deals,Italy is really cheap right now because of the Euro, conversely London is a ripoff, the airfares are good but once you get there its expensive British pound is strong,use public transit inst of taxis, esp in San Fran, NYC, Chicago, and all of Europe. Stay at cheaper hotels on the subway line into town.
