Interesting vacation..hurricanes and wildfires
We went on a cruise July 10th, and was lucky that we left AFTER hurricane Dennis. But, Emily was on her way....and again we lucked out, as we were AHEAD of her. It was pretty smooth sailing.
We rec'd a shore to ship phone call right after the ship left Galveston port, from DH"s parents. There was a wildfire in our area started by lightning, and our town had been put on stand-by evacuation......so what did we want out of our house?
AAAAHHHHH!!!! What a mess!!!
DH's parents evacuated our pets, loaded up picture albums, and whatever else they could.
DH's brother's home was in the line of fire, and was only saved by a sudden shift in wind direction. Fortunately, with the wind shift and a rainstorm, the fire was contained.
We returned yesterday....and are trying to get everything put back.
Here is a picture of BIL"s home, and you can see the fire.....it shows how close he actually came to losing his home...

Wow! He is very lucky, did they have smoke damage? Love the reflection in the house windows of blue skies.

I don't know about the smoke damage....DH talked to them, but I haven't heard. It'd be amazing if they didn't have any!
