Anybody ever done jury duty?

I keep getting called up to do it. DRIVES me crazy! And my husband never gets called. What really bugs me, is its not for the closest court house, but one an hour and a half away. I have gotten out of it thus far because I have always had nursing babies. Has anyone ever been called for Jury duty? Anyone actually done it?

Yes I was called and court house was 50 miles away. What a pain I had to get up really early to get everything done and then leave for court. If you weren't chosen for the case drive home. I did serve on one jury lasted 4 days. That part was interesting.

Re: Anybody ever done jury duty?

When I worked I loved jury duty. Twice I was on a jury. I enjoyed it and am glad I did it. Both trials only lasted 3 or 4 days. At that time you were on call for 1 or 2 weeks. Its been so long I can't remember. My dh just got called and if you didn't get picked the first day you were done. I have been called about 3 times since I quit work 10 years ago but have not had to go because I don't have anyone else to pick up the kids.

Re: Anybody ever done jury duty?

I am actually on Jury duty this Wednesday. I did however get a stand-by notice. This happens everytime I get called. I have actually only had to go to the courthouse once and then I was told I was not needed. I get called all the time and my DH never does. We both are registered voters, licensed drivers and state tax payers..........still only me I am hoping when I call on Tuesday they tell me my panel is not needed as I really want to go to the lake for a few days......guess we will have to wait and see.

Re: Anybody ever done jury duty?

I served once on a federal jury and twice on a county jury. The federal case was a big drug ring with like eight defendents. The case lasted two weeks and I saw stuff I had never seen before...like big bricks of cocaine and machine guns! Each of the defendents copped a plea until it was down to the last defendent and then he plead guilty, too. It seemed like a waste of the jury's time and tax dollars, but it was fascinating.

Re: Anybody ever done jury duty?

Nope, but I've always wanted to! Problem is I don't have a car so it would be hard to get to the courthouse...and since I'm in school, couldn't possibly give up any days of work or classes. Always wanted to do it though.
