Got my New York Institute of Photography Course
I won the course on ebay. I have been too busy getting our house ready to sell to really read it-did read a little of it. I am excited to improve my photography skills. Anyone else interested in photography or taken the course or any course in photography?

The one I got was revised in 1995. They have newer ones with digital photography but I didn't want to spend a lot incase it wasn't worth it. I am reading about different lenses now. The next book is "How to Use Your Camera", then "Film". There are a whole stack of lessons. It has been well worth the money. It is hard for me to read one because I want to read them all in one day I haven't watched any of the videos, but listened to one tape.

There are 30 booklets on different photography subjects/lessons, 3 videos and 18 cassette tapes. It normally sells for +$700, you get support, and a few extras-like a umbrella, a gray card-don't know what that is for. I guess I don't know how this compares to any other courses but I read a lot of good things about this one. It cost me $50 plus shipping. I bought a couple lenses and filters on ebay and found out the place I bought them from had a fire so who knows when I will get them.

Yes I did get a good deal. I have been watching ebay for awhile-the publish date was 1995-so that may have been why I got a good deal-but the information is still useful.

I got my lenses and filters yesterday-I've been having fun playing with them.

very cool- I am keeping my eyes open. There are some new great books on digital photography too, especially on exposure. One called Understanding Exposure, by Brian Peterson, also Great Photography Workshop by Bill Fortney. These show you a picture taken at all sorts of f-stops, which really helped my dh!

Many years ago before I was married, I worked for Kinderphoto as a traveling child photographer. I would travel to different cities, set up in a Penny's store, and shoot photos for a week. It was exhausting....a different city every week, lots of air travel, hauling equipment in rental cars.....so I didn't stick with it for very long. I had to go through a training course in Reno for it.
Now, I occassionally take photos, but DH does most of it.
