"ethnic" French restaurants in USA (NOT "haute cuisine") are there any French country/regional (Provencal) etc restaurants in USA. Unlike Italian regional, this is not well represented in USA. around 9th Ave and the upper 40s (****'s Kitchen) in NYC there are a few remaining hole in the wall bistros with hand lettered signs in French, a throwback from the when the Cruise Lines docked in NYC and employed many French people. No white table clothes, no wine presentations. Just a giant plate of snails and garlic, free flowing jugs of house wine, and cheese and pastry to die for (OK, I admit it, I DO like some things about the French!)
