Question concerning vacation in Texas

My daughter recently moved to San Antonio. We will be going down there for vacation in a few months. We also want to go to the beach for a few days. Can someone tell me a good place to vacation on the beach? We basically just lay on the beach and enjoy the water, so activities aren't all that important. I was thinking South Padre, but wondered about Corpus Christi also. Is one prettier then the other, or does it all look about the same down there. Thanks.

Re: Question concerning vacation in Texas

Well, Sea World has a beach and it is in San Antonio. Okay, it ain't the ocean but they do have a wave maker!

Corpus Christi is closer, but Padre is more popular with the younger set. I would opt for Corpus since it is closer and an easy drive from SA. Padre is closer to Mexico and you can go across for a day adventure. However, people have been known to disappear while on the Mexican side of the border.

Basically, it's what ever floats your boat.

Re: Question concerning vacation in Texas

I would probally opt for Corpus as well...I grew up in Houston tx. and had a great aunt who lived in Corpus. I have not been there in years but hear it is still nice. And definatly a lot nicer than Galveston For sure :O)

I was just in Galveston last summer and it has not changed a bit still pretty nasty

As for San Antonio I went there several yrs ago and absolutley loved it...

Hope yall have a wonderful time

Re: Question concerning vacation in Texas

We went to Galveston several years ago. It was terrible. We had always visited the white beaches of Florida and I just couldn't believe how yucky the sand was in Galveston. When we washed our swimsuits out, the water looked like we had washed out red, clay mud. Promised that I would never go back to Texas after that(LOL). Anyway, I've never been past Galveston, so not sure what I'm getting into. For those of you more familiar with Corpus could you tell me if any of the condos are on the ocean or are they all on the bay? I have inquired about a condo and the person tells me it has "bay views" and "bay fronts". From the map it looks like Corpus is on the bay. DH wants to stay on the ocean front. So if it's true that Corpus is on the bay, we may go on to South Padre. There is a strip of land out from Corpus(Mustang Island, Port Aransas, Malaquite Beach), are there condos there? Everyone has told me that I will love San Antonio--lots to see and do. DH went to basic there in the 70's , but I've never been. Really excited to get to go. Thanks for you help.
