Re: Do you take your shoes off?

All shoes come off in our home. Andy hates it when someone leaves them on. He tells them we have a son, four cats and a dog who play on these floors.

Re: Do you take your shoes off?

Nope we don't take our shoes off. Although they end up off in summer anyways.

Re: Do you take your shoes off?

School shoes...ok...most often they DO come off soon after stepping through the door.
MY shoes...ok
Hubby....dang that man drives me insane. LOL!

The boys change into their play shoes as soon as they can. Play shoes come off RIGHT inside the family room door (it's actually basically a *crap* room with a wood-burner...lol) or right before (from the garage)....there is always a pile of shoes in the garage.

I would rather go every where w/o shoes, but since that's not really "acceptable" ..LOL..I often take off my shoes as soon as I can...then I have a different pair (or ballerina type slippers) that I can just slip on and off.

I RARELY see my hubby w/o shoes on. I mean....even right after a shower. He will put his shoes BACK on after a shower if he's not going to bed right away.

I prefer the boys wear shoes outside if they're going to being playing for awhile. We have apple trees that attract a LOT of bees, I don't want them going ANY where near the road because ppl. in passing cars can throw out the nastiest of things. They are allowed to play in the creek (back yard), but...well...we have separate shoes for that as well.

Now at others homes..depends. LOL! The boys are SUPPOSE to take off their shoes when ever they go into someone else's home, but I know my ex and his wife do not make it a point to expect this from them (or "theirs")...At my mom and MIL's homes I don't take off my shoes as a "regular" habit. Friends homes...depends on who it is really AND what the weather is like...no way would I think wiping my feet after walking through rain, snow, etc..is sufficient.

Re: Do you take your shoes off?

We always have a pile of shoes by our front door.
Like, I said it's not a requirement in our house, but it seems as tho it is usually done.

With DH, I'm doing good if I can get him to throw away his trash, pick his clothes up from the floor, put away his dirty dishes, put away his magazines, ect. I'm not going to add remove your shoes to the list, because it's hard enough getting him to do the other things. For example, yesterday morning he sat in his chair and ate a bowl of cereal. He sits the bowl on the end table by his chair and leaves. I left it there, waiting to see how long it would be there before he took care of it, or if he would just wait until I did it.
Finally, about 31 hours later, he picked it up and took it into the kitchen. That's pretty good, considering he has left things for weeks before..........

Re: Do you take your shoes off?

I almost always take my shoes off when I come home. Socks or barefeet is just much more comfortable and then the carpet stays a little cleaner!

Re: Do you take your shoes off?

I was taught as a child that it was vulgar to take your shoes off in the home. It kind of related to the phrase, "barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen." But now I do it. My Chinese husband used to freak out if I wore shoes in the house. When he pointed out that we sometimes walked around some of the yuckiest areas of Los Angeles (for business), where homeless people live and have TB (tuberculosis!), I finally decided to follow this custom. We now have house slippers or socks that we wear.

I live in Southern California, and we have many Asian and Middle-Eastern people here who are horrified if you wear your shoes in the house. They ARE right in that it tracks in germs and chemicals. Many of them keep little disposable felt slippers that they offer you, so that you are not treking around barefoot in their homes. You wear them once and then they are thrown away, so it's quite hygenic.

Re: Do you take your shoes off?

Gosh no I don't pay no mind to it. I have people come in all the time and just stand at the door. I laugh at them and say come on in, you won't hurt nothin. They always say I'm too dirty LOL They should see dh when he comes home from workin in the log woods all day As far as me I hate my shoes on, I am lucky if I put them on to go outside.

Re: Do you take your shoes off?

Absolutely! No shoes are allowed in my house, as it is wall-to-wall carpeted. Occasionally, a repairman will come in, and they're not likely to take off their workboots, but otherwise no shoes on my carpets!
