News Flash Jennifer Wilbanks Lied About Abduction

Just in on the news. I am sure her family is thrilled to have her home but she apparently just got cold feet and went to Vegas on a greyhound bus.

I think they said they found her in New Mexico via Vegas? What a kook. At least leave a note saying you went away for time to think! Way to make your family think you're gone forever - especially in the wake of the recent wife killings.

It says there would be no criminal charges . . . . but I'm sure there could be. When a college student in Wisconsin went missing there was a huge search for her - when all along she was faking her abduction. I think she was charged with something for using up police resources.

Very sad. Shame she couldn't sit down and speak with her boyfriend, family or friends about how she was feeling. But she intentionally set out to make this look like some sort of foul play happened. I think there should be some form of consequence for her actions. Whether community service or fines.

I wonder if they will make her pay for the search? That would probably take her years and years to pay off.

My mom just informed me that people were sending in donations for her search, return reward fund. What happens to all that money as I am sure most of it was donated anonymously. I think that it should be donated as a fund to help people find those "really missing" persons. As for her fiance, I think he should consider this action and what else might happen in the future with this lady. Another thing that really ticked me off is that she said she was abducted by a "Hispanic" male and a "White" woman. Why always blame people of other races?

DULUTH -- More than 100 volunteers joined police yesterday in a search through the wooded neighborhood where a 32-year-old woman reportedly disappeared just days before she was to be married.
Yesterday morning, authorities said they were considering the Tuesday-night disappearance of Jennifer Wilbanks a criminal investigation. Miss Wilbanks was reported missing five hours after her fiance, John Mason, said she had gone on her nightly jog in the northeastern Atlanta suburb neighborhood, police said.
Tomorrow's wedding was expected to be a bash, with 600 invitations sent out and 14 bridesmaids and 14 groomsmen, said Mr. Mason's mother, Vicki."

Holy smokes! There are 14 bridesmaid dresses and 14 tux rentals down the tubes. I'll bet there are some pretty peeved off people!

First I'd hug her and tell her I was glad nothing happened to her, then I'd kick her in the arse.

They were just discussing this matter on Fox. Jennifer had just arrived back in Georgia and was photographed with a striped blanket over her head being escorted by law enforcement through the airport.

I was watching Rita Cosby's show, and one of the panelists stated that (unfortunately), she committed no crime under Georgia law, but there's the possibility of a New Mexico charge of filing a false police report.

Rita also stated that the reason the search was called off a couple of days ago is because an investigation into Jennifer's past led them to believe she was not abducted. Apparently she had actually ditched her groom-to-be twice before . No details were provided on that claim, so I'm sure we'll hear if it's true as the story unfolds in the coming days.

All I can think about is the agony she put her loved ones through. She obviously needs some help. Wonder what her relationship will be with her fiance now?!

I think it would be safe to say she's not the marrying type! And what happens when she gets pregnant and decides that's more than she can handle? Or if she has a baby, and suddenly that's more than she can bear?

But I guess if she felt trapped and overwhelmed . . . I suppose she didn't feel she could tell people to hold on or stop since the wedding was coming, so she just left. If there was no her, there was no wedding, then she didn't have to face anyone. I'd really hate to be her right now. Wow (Oh, I also read she cut her hair off.)

I may be one of few who actually fell sorry for Jennifer...I also feel bad for her family to , really , really bad...but then I think back on a time when in my younger years I made a bad mistake of running away when I thought my life was in a whirl wind. There were many people, police, friends, and family looking for me...I made a terrible mistake. but no one hated me or said I should repay for what I did...
She really needs help mentally, now for her to say she was abdcuted that is totally wrong... I never did that. But I can say that when you are scared it is really easy to say something that will take a bit of blame off of you..
I feel bad for everyone involved and I did pray for all...

I think that the press just picks these things up and makes it worse than it really is. It is very sad.

I'll bet she didn't think the national news would pick up on this!

I have mixed thoughts about the press - for one, if she really was abducted, getting the word out quick could save her life - OR it could end it because the abducters may want to "get rid of her".

So the press got into this thinking it was a missing woman, not one that just "needed some alone time".
