Diet woes and successes, South Beach, ect.

I started a thread a long time ago saying I was on the South Beach Diet.
I did lose weight on it, but naturally, it came back.
We have a cruise scheduled in July, and all you do is eat on those things.
I stepped on the scale and was weighing anywhere from 156-158.
The day I weighed in at 158 I about had a heart attack....pounds were continuing to sneak on.
Now, I know there are some who might say they would love to weigh 158....but I was really worried I would pack more onto that with the cruise. And besides, I want to be able to go and enjoy the food and not sorry about gaining a few.
I started dieting on my own, and got down to 153. And got stuck there.
So, I started drinking more water, eating just a yogurt for breakfast and lunch, then whatever for dinner.
I got down to 151...and got stuck again. Arrggggg...
I bit the bullet and joined Nutrisystem, most of the food is pretty good, spend a lot of time drinking/peeing,,,,lots of veggies and fruits.
I have gotten down to 147. I want to get down to 140, even tho I weighed around 125-130 when I married.
Dieting just really bites, doesn't it???
I made chocolate chip cookies for the family awhile back, talk about hard!!!

Re: Diet woes and successes, South Beach, ect.

You sound like you are doing a good job, and yes it is very hard. Tomorrow I am going back to Weight Watchers. Three other mothers from my children's school go on the same day so that might help me. My 8 year old dd is very overweight so I need to go back for both of us. I hope you really enjoy your cruise and don't let eating ruin it for you. The cruise may be a once in a life time vacation and you can always diet when you get home. If you put on a few pounds don't beat yourself up over it. Know you had a great time and it was worth it.

I love weight watchers I have lost about 19 pounds since I started it is just so easy for me to do and beleive me I have tried them all Atkins,South Beach, counting calories, The cabbage soup diet, The grapefruit diet and on and on. The third morning of the grapefruit diet I looked at the grapefruit and said no way. I don't like gragefruit anyway so it was really tough.

Re: Diet woes and successes, South Beach, ect.

I can relate so well Lifestyle changes are so hard...but you can do it!!! I'm leaving for my vacation cruise this Thursday and I already have a game plan to stay on track! As soon as I get on the ship I'm ordering a case of water sent up to my stateroom. Next I plan on being up early and hitting the ships gym every morning for at least 1 hour! Next the key is MODERATION!!! Small portions....stay away from the booze ( it's all wasted calories!) NO midmight buffets...I don't eat at midnight now, so why start on vacation Yes I will have dessert, but I plan on only eating HALF of it.....just enought to satisfy my cravings. Last year when I went on a cruise and I did the above, I came back 3 lbs lighter...so it is possible to stick to your diet and have FUN!!! Also.....use the stairs NEVER the ships elevators....another form of great exercise

Re: Diet woes and successes, South Beach, ect.

I know this sounds funny but you may not be eating enough! On Weight Watchers, they make us eat all of our points every day because if you don't eat enough you go into starvation mode and your body won't allow itself to lose weight. I am eating way more on WW and losing every week...

Good luck and have fun on your cruise!

Re: Diet woes and successes, South Beach, ect.

I've been going to Curves for almost three months now, and up to this month I kept gaining, I added six more pounds. Now I joined e-diets too, using the slim-fast low-carb diet, and I've lost those six pounds in the last two weeks. Fourty more to go.....
