Angry Oh boy, overdrawn account

This is just great! I logged on to my checking account today and saw my balance wsa -$1.20. Now I was shocked because I'm an accounting major and pretty much as anal as you can be about keeping my checkbook up to day. Well it turns out SuperSaver charged me $1.98 TWICE! I went there the other day to buy 1 gallon of milk for $1.64 and 1 Reeses FastBreak bar for $.34....$1.68 for a gallon of milk is a steal. So much for SuperSaver, more like SuperHassle!

I only had $.78 cents in my account after I made the purchase so when they charged me again of course I am overdrawn. I went to the bank but I'm not sure if he'll really do anything because I kind of got the "he's just giving me lip service" vibe.

I'm not sure if the charge will just go away or if I need to actually go to SuperSaver? I don't even know if I have the receipt, but I sure hope I do. I mean I can't actually prove to WellsFargo that I didn't make two seperate purchases at SuperSaver on 4/19/05 in the amount of $1.98, although how likely is that?

Re: Oh boy, overdrawn account

All stores retain copies of their register rolls. If you remember when you went there they should be able to find it. And, why would you have bought two gallons? I tell you what you really have to watch these checkers. DH bought a few steaks the other week and meat is really expensive right now. When he got home from the store he discovered that two of them (naturally the most expensive) were not in any of the bags. We called the store and they weren't at the checkout. Imagine that. Now, we bag our own groceries. I hope you can get it all straight.

Actually the bank should have noticed it was double charged and fixed it. Atleast that is what my bank does. I am sure they will waive the fees, once it has been pointed out to them. Call the bank!

I would have thought the same. I know I have "accidently" clicked the "pay now" button a couple of times when trying to pay my net bill..I always see where they have removed the second charge when I look at my checking account online. I would think the bank would waive any fees as well.
Hope it all works out for ya.

Re: Oh boy, overdrawn account

The store should have record of your purchase and I would make them pay the over draft fees if the bank dont credit it...This is obviously not your fault and I sure hope they do not make you pay for it..

Re: Oh boy, overdrawn account

lol crazytimes you sound like me, spending and balancing the checkbook down to the dollar. Leaves no room for error that way, so its nice if I can ever get a cushion in there.

Re: Oh boy, overdrawn account

I balance mine down TO THE PENNY . Even if it is just one cent off, I'll spend half an hour going over it to find my error. I make so little that I never have a chance to leave the mony in my account.

The good news is that the bank deposited $1.98 into my account so that I wont be charged the fee, however, I'm still going to go to the store and ask them about it.

Re: Oh boy, overdrawn account

So glad it worked out for ya!
I take it down to the last cent as well. What ever isn't part of our budget I withdrawal. After all of the bill, etc payments went through I am down to 25¢ in my checking LOL! I know EXACTLY what is in there at all times and I can't tell you the last time I actually "balanced" my checkbook.
