how often do you bake?

I rarely ever bake because I enjoy the results too much. Sometimes my daughters will make cookies. I was so impressed because they made a cake from scratch, then went on to make frosting from scratch! I didn't know you could do that!

Re: how often do you bake?

LOL...it's hard to remember the last time I baked from scratch. I make cupcakes or brownies about once a month. Sometimes when we get low on cookies I will make some if I don't feel like going to the store. Baked goods do not last long in this house..it's almost scary!

I would really like to bake some bread...maybe some banana!

Re: how often do you bake?

I don't bake bread, but most other things I bake from scratch. I find baking relaxing when I make the time to do it, and it's sort of a hobby to create recipes.

I like to bake pies, tarts, banana/zucchini/squash breads, brownies, every kind of cookie, pudding cake, and many more. One timesaver is to mix up a batch of cookies, bake however many you want to serve, then shape the remaining dough into balls and freeze. Then whenever you want a few cookies, bake them fresh. I think they taste better this way, rather than freezing baked cookies.

Sometimes I'll keep a box of corn muffin mix in the cupboard for when I'm in a hurry, but it seems that by the time you add the eggs, milk, butter or oil, etc. to a boxed product, it's not that much more trouble to start from scratch. Another reason is the nutritional content of food you don't make yourself, such as the muffins from the grocery store that contain more sugar than flour!

I don't bake many cakes, other than for one of my kids' birthdays, but I've found that chocolate cake made from a mix, frosted with homemade chocolate butter frosting tastes pretty good.

Re: how often do you bake?

I bake a lot. Homemade bread 3-4 times a week, it's DH's favorite. I have a Kitchen aid mixer that makes it really easy.
I have a really good chocolate chip cookie recipe, and a sour cream pound cake that I bake often.
In a pinch, I'll do quick brownies from a box, or cookie dough from the freezer.

Re: how often do you bake?

I bake at least once a week. I've been getting some GREAT recipes from my Weight Watchers meetings and also my Bariatric support group. When your dieting like me...it's important to try new things every week otherwise you might get board with the same foods and cheat!

Re: how often do you bake?

My mother loves cookies so I am always baking them for her. Of course, my cookie jar gets filled too. I like to bake and try new recipes, and now my favorite is Scandinavian Almond Cake which requires a special pan. Pie is not a favorite, but quick breads are a hit. I recently tried strawberry and everyone loved it!

Re: how often do you bake?

I bake maybe once a week now. I love to make goodies, but I know how much I love to eat them, too, so I try not to. Mostly I'll bake something for DH to take to share with friends, and keep a bit for us. That kind of keeps things in check. I LOVE the way the house smells when baking, though. Mmmmmmmmmm.
