Baffled Update on my 8 yo dd...need some advice...

I don't know if anyone recalls, but myd had an endoscopy a little while ago. The biopsies were all negative, but she does have IBD, GERD, and a sliding hiatal hernia. Well, yesterday she tells me that every time she eats and her stomach starts to hurt, her head feels like it's going to explode and her vision gets blurry. ...I have a call in to her gastroenterologist, but I was wondering if anyone ever heard of something like this. I thought of sinuses, but she said it happens after she eats and her stomach starts to hurt.

Re: Update on my 8 yo dd...need some advice...

My little sister in law had something similar, everytime she ate her stomach hurt her. They did more tests on her than I thought possible. She ended up in the hospital because of it. Long story short her problem is she has hemorroids way up inside her colon, along with that she has a hernia that moves or does something when she eats so the stomach is working hard to move the food but it goes nowhere, and I sure there are a few other things that are happening to her I don't know about. I feel for your DD that is really hard to deal with at her young age.

Oh geez....your poor DD, I wish I could help you out, but I have never heard of something like that before...ummmm...could it be migraines?

My oldest DD gets them, and sometimes they are food triggered. But only with certain foods, not everytime she eats.

I really hope she's better soon.

Here is something else you may want to be sure your doctor checks for:

I didn't even know there was such a thing as abdominal migraines until I read about someone's 7 year old having the problem on a chronic pain message board.

Some kids just get sick and others get the headache and the whole ball of wax.

Poor little one! I will keep her in my prayers. I would just keep going to the doctor until they figure it out.

Re: Update on my 8 yo dd...need some advice...

I feel so sorry for your little girl and for you. You feel so helpless when your child hurts.
After all she's been through perhaps these symptoms are a nervous response to eating.
Pain is such a frightening thing and even more so for a child. I hope she responds to medical treatment and feels better.
