Question Restaurants open on Easter Sunday?

My mom's been working a lot lately and is too tired to cook Easter dinner on Sunday so my family is coming down. But I'm wondering, do you think places like Olive Garden would be open on Easter Sunday? I assume so, but I'm not totally sure.

Re: Restaurants open on Easter Sunday?

From what I've seen, most places are open for normal business on Sunday. When I worked in retail, I know we were always open.

This always kinda surprised me since I think Easter should really be a bigger holiday than Xmas but it is not. Commericalism and materialism rule I guess.

Our Olive Garden is open all day, but a lot of others are closing around 3:00. I imagine many ethic places will be open too.

Re: Restaurants open on Easter Sunday?

I work at Wal-Mart and what surprised me is Easter is not a paid holiday. Christmas is but the reason Easter is not is because it's a religious (sp) holiday! I don't know what they think Christmas is.
Some restaurants around here are open but not all of them. This is the first year we are open. We've only been a Super Center since July of last year. Not all of our stores are open either.

Re: Restaurants open on Easter Sunday?

Many of the major restaurants like Red Lobster, Chinese restaurants and buffets, Rainforest Cafe, etc. will be open. Since Easter is a religious holiday, and many Asian, Jewish, Far Eastern, Hindu, etc. people do not celebrate Easter, you will find many restaurants and businesses open on Easter Sunday.

Re: Restaurants open on Easter Sunday?

We are probably going to be hitting Old Country Buffet this afternoon. I just don't feel like cooking...I was sick all day yesterday! It looks like all the stores around us are open.

Re: Restaurants open on Easter Sunday?

Well, I woke up sick to my stomach so If I feel a little better in a while I think I am just going to cook some steaks. We are getting ready to have some big storms here in the Carolinas today. Everyone at my house is taking a nap, except me, I took one earlier. A nice day for some sleep. DH said he was really suprised at how many places were actually open today.

Re: Restaurants open on Easter Sunday?

Well, OCB had a line out the door, so we went next door to IHOP. They have really decent, cheap food. It's hard to mess up a stack of pancakes, right? But their other food is pretty good, too.

Re: Restaurants open on Easter Sunday?

Well Olive Garden was great. I was surprise at how many stores were closed. Even Target was closed; I can see big retailers being closed Christmas day, but not Easter. I guess it's nice the employees get a day off.
