CAN YOU JUST BRING DINNER HOME

I am so tired of cooking, DH is as well. How many of us just want them to just bring dinner home? I would say cook it but DH can't cook very well.

Re: CAN YOU JUST BRING DINNER HOME

There is nothing wrong with bringing dinner home. Though I am a good cook, it takes me forever, so it is not feasible on weeknights. The wife however, is very effecient and can throw a meal together in a heart beat. When she comes in tired, we call in a pizza or have what we call "grazing night!" That means find whatever you can because no one is cooking or calling in a pizza! My son loves pizza night, but grazing night doesn't suit his fancy!lol

Re: CAN YOU JUST BRING DINNER HOME

I live within a mile of 8 different fast food restaurants, this isnt counting all the sit down restaurants. I have to admit it is a horrible temptation, not only expensive but bad for your health. My DS who is very addicted to fast food will come in the house see what is on the table and ask for money to go buy dinner. HAHA! I will admit that we eat fast food for dinner atleast 2 times a week. I can't even count how many times a week DS runs out for a "snack".

Re: CAN YOU JUST BRING DINNER HOME

I bought two rotisserie chickens at Walmart over the weekend. They were $3.89 or something like that. We made a lot of sandwiches from those chickies. I don't think I'll ever buy lunchmeat again. I would say that we either eat out or get takeout about once a week. I'm a SAHM and there are plenty of times that I don't feel like cooking. I can't imagine what it would be like for a working couple. I also make big batches of soup and my spaghetti sauce and we keep those in the fridge for quick meals. I definitely don't cook every night!

Re: CAN YOU JUST BRING DINNER HOME

I am with you bestmidwest! I really don't like cooking, it always seems to be a pain. I can not imagine what it would be like to have to cook after putting in a full days work outside the home! I think I only cook nice dinners for my husband. If he is gone, then the kids and I eat cerial or something like that!

Yum, I love those chickens at walmart. It is so easy to heat up a veggie and serve. What would one give for a night out with real, real, service and food???

I love to cook, but cooking for one is NO FUN! I hate leftovers too -- the last thing I want to do is be eating the same thing every night for a week.

I once bought a bag of beans to be frugal -- never again! Those things are more of a pain than they are worth. I tried the "quick cook" method and left the room...well the water boiled out and they burned and stuck to the pan. Forget it!

I haven't ever tried those chickens from Wal-Mart, but they sound pretty good. I'll have to get one next time I go.

We buy ours from Meijer's...AND the boys and I picked one up on Tuesday..not really for dinner or anything..just to have in the fridge...LOL! My 9 year old is SUCH a snacker...he'll take some of that chicken over almost anything.

We ordered pizza tonight, but it's not something we do often (1-2 times a month). Heck...takes us about 30 mins. to get there and back...obviously they don't deliver to our addy.

DH doesn't cook. He can makew a cake from a mix and eggs...lol. I think he just plays "dumb" tho...lol...he's a good kitchen helper, but not near as good as the 9 yro. That child loves to be kitchen helper.

Re: CAN YOU JUST BRING DINNER HOME

Well, now I will never complain again about cooking. The child who stays with us (I might has well just call him DS as he pretty much is, was on his way to pick up some sandwiches last evening after school and he hydroplaned, (we have had so much water down) nearly flipped his vehicle and landed side down in a ditch. Then, the ignorant (and I do mean ignorant) tow person, after he finished towing the vehicle, was going to take it to the impound yard (although absolutely nothing was wrong with the vehicle) unless he was paid $125.00 immediately. Well, thank God I was home. When I got the call, the poor little fellow was crying, scared half to death. Told me, "mom you don't have to worry about paying for my prom or my birthday or anything else, I need help." So, I got on the phone with the state trooper and told him who we were, he made the tow truck guy let DS go on and then, about 5 minutes later the tow truck man ended up in our driveway. I gave him our insurance card, He said he didn't take insurance. He demanded the money up front. DH had to nearly sit on me and put tape over my mouth after he heard how the man talked to me. Needless to say, DH paid him, and then told him to get (#@#$%^&**) out of our driveway. This was one of the most costly meals I think I have ever had. DS still went and picked up food, brought it home. People are just so shallow sometimes. I was so thankful DS wasn't hurt, tonight I am making him a steak.

Re: CAN YOU JUST BRING DINNER HOME

What is this? The meals aren't just showing up on your tables with the stroke of your magic wand? Tsk Tsk....sorry...oh wait, meals don't jump on our table either. We rarely just bring it home or order in or things of that nature. What we do try to do is grill once a week to cover at least 2 meals, try to do one-pot meals or just have a salad with a baked potato.

Well, today almost all of that comes to a screeching hault. I have been fighting the battle of the bulge and was getting no where so I went to see an internal medicine specialist. I was told cut the carbs WAY down to nearly nothing, add a little more protein and don't eat out EVER. This doc told me that if I want to eat out, we need to call around and find those places that use fresh everything. She said slurge big once a month on a $100 dinner rather than 4x a month on a $25 dinner and be happy. She turned me onto a site calle [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]. KEWL SITE! On the menu bar on the left there is a link to fast food and regular restaurants. Select the restaurant you want to investigate and you will find their full menu. Select a menu item and it breaks it down 100% nutritionally so that you know what you are getting. It is set up so that you can print out the "menu specs". I was shocked at how horrible my conservative selections really were. I eat out about once a week. NO MORE! If I do, I think I'll go for a huge milk shake and keep going. Less calories in that than some stripped down burgers.

I'm in excellent health, just couldn't get off the pounds and they have been coming on rapidly for a year. So to anyone wanting dinner brought home, opt for the salad mix, some fresh fruit and a diet soda. You won't gain any weight on that and it will be relatively quick and easy to perpare and clean up.

Re: CAN YOU JUST BRING DINNER HOME

Remember that old joke about the Dad and the son trying to find a place to hid Mom's Christmas gift. Dad said put it in the oven, she'll never find it in there! That isn't as funny as it used to be!
