Re: What was your wedding like and where did you honeymoon?

Well we basically eloped, just us and the JOP, no other guests though the guy made it a really nice and special ceremony.

Then when we left there we went to Sheetz, got some MTO's and started driving up to the mountains to just be together. Unfortunately, while eating, I got sick and we had to pull over. (We didn't know yet that I was pregnant!)

Then we drove home and played Sonic the Hedgehog.

Re: What was your wedding like and where did you honeymoon?

Wedding #1 was an all out deal. Church, attendents, the big cake, rehersal dinner etc etc. Honeymoon was snowed out so we were stranded in a hotel near an airport ::::yawn::::. Marriage lasted 25 years.

Wedding #2 was a lunch hour trip to the court house to get all the proper documentation and then we called a JP who met us at the city park on a hot summer day with two of our friends attending. No honeymoon. Here we are a decade later.

Neither time did I think any of either of my marriages was about the ceremony. That has never meant a thing to me. That is utopian to the first route because you come home to a couple of suitcases of dirty laundy and life begins. The second way was a pain in the butt to get someone to "officiate" when all we wanted was the documentation to be done correctly.

While I do believe in marriage, I just don't think that modern marriage ceremonies set you up very well for life. I think you should be able to apply over the internet and get it filed without ever leaving your computer! ROFL!

Love Re: What was your wedding like and where did you honeymoon?

Well we were just married (march 1st) in St Thomas on the beach. It was beautiful! We took a cruise from miami (With 25 friends & my dad n step mom) stopping in san jaun, st martin, st thomas & bahamas. It was such a great trip, we didnt do a seperate honeymoon but we will take another trip Alone soon.

We are planning to try for a baby in the next few months so it may have to wait till after that.

Re: What was your wedding like and where did you honeymoon?

WOW that must have been awesome.

My wedding was in a church. Two days before the wedding I broke my ankle so had to limp down the aisle on crutches. Glad I picked a church with a short aisle.

Then to Eureka Springs for a weeks Honeymoon. ES is a very hilly town and I had a wheelchair and crutches. Were my arms sore but we had a jacuzzi in our room so I soaked every night with my cast hanging over the side. LOL

I was a great time though and I felt so well taken care of by my hubby. He was wonderful. Will be 14 years this June 1st.

Re: What was your wedding like and where did you honeymoon?

Oh boy...Kenny and my "wedding" was pathetic...also quite unplanned. He had taken the day off of work so we could get our marriage license. I had called ahead of time to make sure of what we needed to bring with us. A receptionist told me what I needed to know and then said Judge "so and so" has a time slot open so you could get married right after getting your license...I just laughed and hung up. I told Kenny about it and he basically said "Lets do it..." That was it...December 15th., 1995. Ummmmm, we did things a little backwards...like...uhhhh...I gave birth to Codey in October..so that means all three kids were there as witnesses LOL! Lemme set the record straight tho, I was the one who needed persuaded to try the whole marriage thing again. I do regret having such a wedding. I mean, I am SO in love with my husband and I wish all of our friends and family could have been a part of out union. Maybe someday tho
Honeymoon?!?!?! Uhhhhhh....read the part again about three kids being witness to our ceremony...we STILL haven't had a honeymoon.

I don't know about that...I'd be afraid she might leave Kenny for the Dyson!! You guys are too cute!

I love reading all of these wedding stories. Romantic or not, it's not about the wedding, it's about what happens after! I am so thankful for my wonderful guy (who lacks in the romance department but makes up for it by being an amazing husband and dad).

Re: What was your wedding like and where did you honeymoon?

My husband and I got engaged after we dated for two months. Then had the wedding 5 months later. I hope my kids don't do that to me We have been married almost 9 years. We tossed around the idea to go to the JP or elope but I wanted a wedding, DH had been married before but was okay with doing a wedding again. We had a beautiful church wedding and it was a nice sunny day. We were (still are) so in love that whatever the flower lady, food people etc. wanted to do was fine with us They all did a wonderful job. Then we went to Winnepeg, Canada for a few days.

I've enjoyed reading all of these "memories" as well. Yes, some just make ya gush, but they're all great. I may some what regret my wedding per-say, but I don't regret my marriage the least....even during the worst of spells

Sorry you had such bad luck right before your wedding, but it sounds like you two had a fun trip in spite of your wheelchair, cast and crutches! Congrats on 14 years

Chatter box Re: What was your wedding like and where did you honeymoon?

Well, after dating 3 1/2 years, we got married at the church we met at. We had 8 attendants. The reception was down the street at the clubhouse for a golf course with about 150 people. (I have a big Italian family on my mom's side!) We were very frugal because I was 23 and he was 20 so my parents were footing quite a lot of the bill. We would have loved a big, tropical honeymoon but were again having to be frugal so we decided on the Poconos. Now let me tell you, two people from southern California having their honeymoon in the Poconos was a concept the other people there could not understand. Everytime someone heard where we were from, they would say "Why did you come HERE for your honeymoon?" LOL! We stayed at a place for a week that obviously has it's better days in the summer than when we were there in April. None of the trees and grass had recovered from winter yet so everything wasn't nearly as pretty as in the advertisements. All of that didn't matter, tho. What mattered most was that we were finally together. That was 14 years ago next month. I would like to renew our vows someday soon but it will probably be when the kids are a little older.

This has been really fun reading these! Thanks for sharing!

LOL, It could have been worse. During the wedding black storm clouds came up and I could see it was getting dark outside. I thought that's all I need now is for the tornado siren to go off. We were having lots of storms that season. But thankk goodness the storm went over and we lucked out.
