Anyone else like white noise?
When I was home at my parents for Christmas the thing that bugged me the most was I COULD NOT get to sleep! I was laying in bed for hours because it was just too dang QUIET. I could have heard a pin drop. It drove me just about nuts. I always have an air purifier running at night along with a fan/humidifier or radio. It's not like I want it to be NOISY, but I like to have some background noise. Anyone else like this?

I HAVE to have a fan running in my room or I can't sleep. I can't have a radio or tv or anything like that on because it is distracting, it just has to be some sort of air movement type noise.

I'm the same way. I HAVE to have a fan running or I can't go to sleep. And the strange thing is, if the fan stops, I wake up. I'm a heavy sleeper. But if the electric goes off and the fan stops, I wake up!

Pure silence is louder to me than anything else (if that makes sense).

In the summer I have a fan running all the time. There's a website called purewhitenoise.com that sells white noise CD's. I got the air conditioner one and have that going during the winter (since it's not smart to be running a fan when it's already cold in here!)

I thought I'd like it, but now we have a fish tanks that runs constantly--gurgling water all the time. I've found myself thinking I'd do anything for it to STOP just for a minute so I can hear nothing, silence instead of the never ending static.

TOTALLY makes sense. Now...I can't have a fan running in the winter because DH likes to keep the heat OFF in the bedroom...if he insisted on the fan being on, I'm afraid I would turn into a popsicle..LOL! I will turn the sleep timer on the TV in the Living Room and that's enough "noise" for me to fall asleep to.

I have to have a fan running also. But, lately it is too cold so we leave our door open so we can hear the fish tank and our oldest daughter snoring (shes 6 and boy I feel sorry for her future husband). I can not sleep with out some type of noise. I stayed at my moms house for new years eve and I stayed up all night just lying there trying to sleep but, it was just to quite and my daughters were downstairs in there own room.

I like white noise but DH doesn't like to hear any type of fan running (even the neighbors' pool pump sound bothers him -- when we're IN our house with the windows closed). But I prefer a steady sound to help me sleep when I'm in a hotel, because of the occasional door slam or loud people walking by.

Same here...LOL I wake up before the blades even stop spinning. We run a fan in our bedroom all year round. It does get cold because we have no heat in our bedroom, but we do have a heated waterbed....LOL

I too must have white noise. We run our ceiling fan year round. We don't really have true winter conditions this far south, so no worries about freezing to death from the breeze (I really prefer the breeze as well as the noise).

I sleep really poorly whenever we stay in a hotel where the air conditioning/heating system does not make enough noise.
