Need some birthday invitation ideas!

Help!!

My son Colin turns two next month. I am doing the invitations for his party myself. We are just having a gathering at our house for our family & friends.

Anyhow, I bought some party paper at the craft store but now I am hitting a roadblock trying to think of clever/funny/interesting ways to word the invitation.

Plus, his party is on 9/11. Do I need to mention anything about that date being special on there? Nobody coming to the party was directly affected by 9/11.

There really isn't a theme. Colin is into trucks, dogs and he likes Big Bird. I think my friend (who made his duck cake last year) is going to make a cake this year in either a shape of a truck or Big Bird.

Well, if your friend makes a truck cake, you could cut the paper out in the shape of a dump truck. Say something like:
We're celebrating a birthday!!
"Dump your chores and truck on over to Colin's house for a load of fun"

Can you print a picture to put on the card?

When Bronson turned one I wrapped a big box and left the top open, then put Bronson in it. I used a photo program to make the background balloons.

For Shane I had him looking out the window of his play house and said "Come to my House!"

For my son's birthday last month, we organized a 'Super Hero' theme based birthday party. My husband was taking care of all the arrangements. After everything was said and done, we came to the crucial decision of birthday invitations. As this was a theme based party, I wanted to send similar invites. Oh wow..I really like the "photos on canvas" (totally love the Lichtenstein, looks like something from a comic book)...BTW.."little" Colin just had kindergarten orientation. Seeeee Shaina..bet it feels like just yesterday when you asked about these invitations!
