Ebay & Feedback ?

Just a quick question.. Has anyone ever posted a cheesy listing just to get feedback? I am upset that so many people will not leave feedback for buying or selling items so I listed a few listings for pictures of my dog. BIN are like .50 with free shipping to cover just the cost of the listing fees.
I am very surprised on how many people are willing to pay for a feedback (well of course I mean a picture of my dog, which everyone has gotten so far )

Anyone else ever do this???

I've never paid for a feedback before but it does make me irate when someone doesn't leave me feedback after a good transaction.

My FIL sells a lot on eBay...I once offered to bid on something that wasn't selling so we could leave each other positive feedback...he looked at me like I had 3 heads!! He didn't understand that I didn't want to buy what he was selling....I just wanted some positive fb. Nevermind, I said.

It's the quality of the feedback I'm more concerned with than the quantity.

I also hate when others don't leave feedback. But as long as mine stays 100% positive, I don't care how many I have.

That is my opinion too. I don't have a million transactions but I try to make each one count.

Why so concerned about the number of feedback? You have really good feedback right now.

I have seen plenty of sellers with a lot of feedback and when you go in to read it, much of it is very bad. That's why I'm always excited to see a powerseller with 99% or better. You're not going to make everyone happy all of the time, but that is pretty good. The ones to avoid are those with 98% or below. I have also had good transactions with people who had some negatives. If they do, I always make sure to read their feedback. Sometimes newbies will give negatives too quickly or not read the terms of the auction.

Ebay has been EXTREMELY SLOW for me lately...and I have DSL. That's frustrating!!

I know I shouldnt care about the # but my negative was a bogus one. I told the buyer they hat wasnt authentic (or at least i didnt thin it was) since I bought on ebay and it was too large for me.
I hate that I have a 99.whatever and I hate that people dont post feedback for people. Some people just dont get how ebay works..

I don't know.......'buying' feedback compromises the integrity of the feedback, I think. I feel your pain, however. The two negatives I have (which gives me a feedback rating of 99.8%) were certainly not warranted either. But I've told the story here, how those came about, and with a total of 988 positives, two negatives don't bother me nearly like they did when I first got them.

Feedback isn't required, shouldn't be expected, and shouldn't be considered part of the transaction. When I buy something, I only care about the product itself. When I sell something, I only care about the money. I can't spend feedback. I have over 6000 positive feedback with no negatives and wouldn't care if I ever got another feedback.

You may not think feedback is important, although you give yourself away with your last sentence. You've already established yourself as a credible buyer/seller, but to those who haven't, it's very important. I read feedback and it DOES determine whether or not I buy from a seller, and if I use this criteria, then I imagine most of my buyers do as well. And THAT translates into more and higher bids (meaning more money). So......indirectly, you CAN spend feedback.

I agree I am only posting my cheesy auctions for a few days I dont want my sellers to think all my FB is from cheesy stuff.

That's true to an extent, but after you get "X" amount of feedback, more isn't important. I'll buy from somebody with 30 positives and no negatives just as trustingly as somebody with 5000 positives and a few negatives.

My point was not to expect feedback as part of a transaction. If you get it, it's a nice added bonus.

Unfortunately most of the people buying feedback are just building up a good looking "cheap" feedback profile so they can look trustworthy. Then they turn around and scam unsuspecting buyers by selling high priced items and never delivering them. You can usually get an idea of their intentions if you see they have 20 positive feedback, all as a buyer, then suddenly they are selling 10 new Dell Laptops, usually with buy-it-now prices under what those items would normally sell for.

Did you know that it is illegal to buy & sell feedback on eBay? You also have a link to your Tupperware site in all of your listings - something else that you can be suspended from eBay for doing.

Hopefully no one will report you because I've seen other people have their accounts suspended for doing the same thing. Personally, I won't buy from anyone who is buying/selling feedback because I figure that they're just doing that to get their numbers up instead of providing excellent customer service with regular auctions.

You all should really read the buyers & sellers guides BEFORE you wind up losing your accounts!
