I watched our wedding video yesterday

What a trip and yes I am a dork!
IT's our 10 year on the 28th so I sat down and watched it. We actually have 2 versions. One has this hilarious "porn" music set to the beginning and we still crack up about that.

It was so funny to look at. What did I notice...

Mike had ALOT more hair

I had ALOT less butt.

People that we see every week at church were there- wild to realize how long I have known these people. I started going to church with Mike 2 weeks after we started dating so 13 years now.

Sad at how we don't talk to anyone that was in our wedding party but our family. I just HAD to have these people up there with us. There were 28 people in the wedding party. I KNOW!!

My brother was 12 so now 22 so amazing how different he looks.

One little kid that was there is getting married on 6/5 so that's crazy to me!

How young Mike's mom looked- she was only 43. Poor thing- her son was getting married and I am 33 now with a 1 year old. WILD

Sad because my grandmother, grandfather and Big Daddy (dad's dad) were there. I am the only one that had all 4 grandparents there.

Sweet to hear the piece my great grandmother wrote at 98 to be read at our wedding. She couldn't come and died at 102.

Just crazy to see how long it's actually been. I still liked my dress, hated my hair- it was too dark, the bridesmaid dresses were very nice and elegant but the outfits the guests were in really aged the video.

Thought I would share- go watch yours sometime. It's nice to walk down wedding memory lane!

Re: I watched our wedding video yesterday

I watched mine not to long ago. We will be married ten years in Jan. It wasa funny to see how little my three stepchildren where then. LOL Now the oldest has a baby and is getting married in November, the middle child just got married in April and the youngest graduated highschool yesterday. I cried tooo, there are 5 people who are in my wedding video who are no longer with us , one being my grandfather and I miss him so much, mine was the only wedding out of the grandaughters that he was here for. It's funny to look back at the hair and clothes and see how much as changed in just 10 yrs.

Re: I watched our wedding video yesterday

I do not have a wedding video to watch because we were married by the justice of the peace, but I was in a friends wedding about 7 years ago and still have not watched the video from it. Maybe one day soon I will pop it in and give it a look. It would be neat to see how we have all changed in looks since then.
By the way Tracir you gave a nice summary of your wedding and I think that your grandmother at 98 writing something to be read at your wedding was so so sweet, she must of been a great woman.

Maybe you can have it converted to a vhs or dvd... that would be a nice thing to have done for your 30th anniversary

Ooopps editing to add now I have read up on the 8 track thingy I guess it would have to go on CD as it is just audio correct

How about a CD. There's no video, just audio. I'd LOVE to do that! I worry that the tape is no longer good enough to use.

Re: I watched our wedding video yesterday

Well I wore a pink turtle neck top that was made out of material similar to a t-shirt so that wasn't bad, it was the pants that were awful............

They were linen with large billowy genie style legs, in pink also with huge flowers all over them and the waist was pleated like a cummerbund. For some reason back then I loved them!! So hmsram you and I have something in common!!!!!

Maybe it is good that we don't have pics or video. LOL!

We were also married by the JOP, just the two of us in a very quiet ceremony.

Re: I watched our wedding video yesterday

Thanks Hmsram-
Yes she was a neat lady. She was the first female to graduate from the University of Florida. She was very religious and wrote Christian poetry and hymns. I think there are at least 2 in one version of the Southern Baptist Hymnal that she wrote.

She was alert and 100% capacity up to the day she died. We'd go see her at the Baptist Village in Darlington, SC and you would walk in the room and she'd know me and Mike like she saw us everyday. She also taught piano for something like 55 years. She was amazing.

I'll have to find the piece and if I do- I'll PM it to you. It's really nice. It's been read at each one of our weddings since.

Re: I watched our wedding video yesterday

Nice story Traci!!

My DH and I are coming up on five years in Sept. We were married by a JOP also so we don't have a wedding video. I DID insist on wearing a lovely fancy white dress though. It is one of those dresses ($100 from Lord and Taylor) that I said I could even wear again although of course I never have.

So, tell us....was the first year of marriage the hardest for you or the year since you've had your baby? For me- I'd have to say the year since we had Colin.

Re: I watched our wedding video yesterday

Thanks Traci, it is fun to look back. My kids get a kick out of watching their baby videos, though it's hard for me sometimes (they really do grow up so fast... sniff ...sniff), and several family members in the videos have passed away.

Wish my DH & I had a wedding video (or even an 8-track recording!). We had a small wedding on a small budget in the '80s. We only had pictures taken by two family members, and one used his Polaroid . But we do have a few good pictures from our special day.
