Phoenix Does Not Observe Daylight Saving Time

Arizona is in the Mountain Standard Time (MST) zone. Other states included in this time zone are Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana.

The Mountain Standard Time zone is 7 hours behind UTC(Universal Time, Coordinated)during Standard Time, and 6 hours behind during Daylight Saving Time.

Arizona does not observe Daylight Saving Time. This means that in Arizona we never change our clocks like most of the rest of the country does. On the last Sunday in October, when everyone else "falls back" or sets their clock back one hour, we do not. This means that from that last Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April, we are one hour ahead of those states on Pacific Time, like California and Nevada; one hour behind states in the Central Time zone, such as Texas and Illinois; and only two hours behind those states on Eastern Time, such as New York and Florida.

The only exception in Arizona is the Navajo Nation, in northeastern Arizona, which does observe Daylight Saving Time.

You might ask, isn't the changing of the clocks a federal law? The answer is that although Daylight Saving Time was established by federal law in 1986, a state or area may choose not to observe it. Other areas in the U.S. that don't observe Daylight Saving Time are Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Eastern Time Zone portion of the State of Indiana. In Arizona, we just don't need another hour of sunlight!

Final tip: It is NOT Daylight SavingS time--there's no "S" after Saving. It's Daylight Saving Time, singular.

It's also a good idea to change the batteries in your smoke/carbon monoxide detectors when the time changes. For those of you that live in places that don't change time, change your batteries anyway! Just trying to keep all my DoD friends safe.

Since I work very early in the morning I am dreading Daylight Saving Time. One more hour of darkness while I work. Boo! I was just starting to enjoy seeing the daylight start earlier.

LOL ya it was Saturday. I spoke with my Sister on Sunday and she still forgot after I warned her. LOL the best is when I was younger I worked at the movies and people all day would show up late for movies b/c they didnt know about the time change.
