| Re: sell by date on bacon? A calendar date on the packaging of a food product that indicates the last day the product can be sold. The "sell by" date tells the retailer how long to display a product. It guides the rotation of shelf stock and allows time for the product to be stored and used at home. The date is quality driven, not a food safety concern. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] [Only registered and activated users can see links. | Re: sell by date on bacon? I agree, the sell by date is just the date it has to be off the shelves in the store, whether it is good or bad. If has already been opened, I would not eat it but if it is still sealed, check smell and color - these are pretty good indicators. God Bless!!! Angie B<><

| Re: sell by date on bacon? If it looks good & it smells good, we do the dog test. If she eats it, then we can proceed to the kid test. And if they eat it, then it's fit for hubby. LOL ![]() Me.. I don't eat bacon, so sorry, I don't have a clue as to how long you can keep it. But I think you'd be safe as it's only 2 weeks past and you've had it sealed in the fridge. |
