Do you think that a member should be able to post in this forum if they are trying to raise money for a charity, as long as there is not a direct link on their post? Just a note to say what they are doing and how to donate if you want to?

I used the Ask the Moderator forum, and one mod suggested it, so I posted. Then another mod took it off. I'm not sure if they thought it was giving me money or what. Anyway, I have it posted in Affiliate Spam, but I don't see why I can't tell anyone what I'm doing. No one is going to see it over there.

I'm putting a lot of hard work into this, both through training and fundraising, and I might have to quit if I don't get more support. From what I've seen of the DoD community, I know they can come together and help others, but not if they don't know about it! Every dollar I raise goes to help stroke victims. The only thing I get out of it is the satisfaction of having reached a goal and having trained hard enough to even consider running 26 miles. They do send me to the marathon, but it's all marketing and education. I'm wearing ASA logos on everything during the race, and it's televised.

I'm sorry, I'm venting aren't I? That's OK, the mods will probably delete this post too with my luck. I just wanted to know what some of the members think about where to post stuff like this, since the mods don't seem to agree.

Go back to the original post in Ask a Mod and ask them there why it would have been deleted off. Or ask the Mod that deleted it why they chose to do it.

Mayor should be the one to decide. I applaud your efforts, and agree sometimes rules can be broken, but if he won't do it the reasoning might be: if he makes an exception for one, then he'll have to make it for others in the future. Good Luck to you!

When you find out let me know, because I was the one who said you could post about it in GCC. Maybe I am wrong. I think if people can post vote for my child, pet, car, whatever and possibly earn something I don't see anything wrong with helping out a good cause.

I can understand though how it might not be allowed since we have so many people post about their hardships, how they want people to send them money etc. However, if there is a site or someway of letting people know this is legit (like you have) that might be different.

Anyway, let me know
