Smile Could you live without a spouse/BF or GF?

I know I could live by myself, 'cause I did when I was younger and had a couple of apartments, but I'd much prefer to have my spouse living with me. It's nice to come home to someone, or for them to come home to you. It's nice sharing dreams together.

Re: Could you live without a spouse/BF or GF?

I could, and have been, living without mine because we are separated. It is certainly lonely, but I feel it is worth it to try to work through our problems.

Re: Could you live without a spouse/BF or GF?

I lived without mine for 8 months when he was deployed, but I much prefer to have him around. He's my best friend. But if something were to happen to him, I think I would stay on my own.

Re: Could you live without a spouse/BF or GF?

I've been happily living by myself for 9 years. In 1995 I got divorced. Up until then I'd always lived with either my parents, roommates in college or roomates... then married. I enjoy being my myself, as long as I have interaction with my neighbors and friends it's not bad at all.

Re: Could you live without a spouse/BF or GF?

I think the only healthy answer to this question is YES. Anyone who answers NO needs to work on her self-esteem and self-reliance. That's from a mental-health point of view.

From a practical point of view, one had better know one can do it--just in case. Husbands die, run off, and divorce. Every woman who has been left alone for any of these reasons will verify that at some point she would have sworn he never would have left her, she would never be alone. The reality is: we'd better be able to talk care of ourselves financially and emotionally 'cause it's likely to happen at some time.

Re: Could you live without a spouse/BF or GF?

I could and sometimes wish I did.

But all in all it is nice to have somebody whom knows you (really knows you) and still loves you.

Re: Could you live without a spouse/BF or GF?

I know I could, but wouldn't want to. I have been a sahm since my oldest was born 7 1/2 years ago, so it would be very hard to get back into a job and have to take kids to daycare and such.

Re: Could you live without a spouse/BF or GF?

I did live without him for 11 months we were split up but I lived with my parents then so I was fine. Now I could never live totally alone. And definatly not without my children. As long as I have them I am fine. One nite they both went to sleep overs and dh was out late working and I cried I wanted to make my kids come home but I could not do it because that would have been mean.

Re: Could you live without a spouse/BF or GF?

I know that I am self sufficient enoug to be able to live without my husband should anything happen but I don't want to. I know a lot of people who complain a lot about the person they chose to marry. I just feel so blessed we are best friends and buddies!
I would be able to function without him but I pray that I don't ever have to!

God Bless!!!

Re: Could you live without a spouse/BF or GF?

I could live on my own without Dh.
I don't want to though. He has been my best friend forever. I lived alone in college.
I lived off campus so being alone isn't a problem. As long as I have my dog.!!!

Re: Could you live without a spouse/BF or GF?

Did it with 2 small children and worked 2 semi part-time jobs. It wasn't the most fulfilling time, BUT it was the first steps toward the happiness I knew we all deserved...a healthier life. I have to say the worst part of it was being away from my kids, while I worked evenings they were with their Dad or his folks, but I had been a SAHM for quite some time and it was a huge adjustment for all of us.
I could do it now, again, but I certainly wouldn't want to...just for the fact that if I did...it would be the result of great pain (death, etc..).
