Smile Is your main telephone a regular phone or a cell phone?

We only have cell phones as our main telephones. My DH does not like our phone company so decided, that was it, just the cell phones. I don't know that I agree with that though 'cause what if there were to be an accident, and the cell phone was not on, then how would anyone reach anyone? Maybe I'm just being too practical.

We have both. I actually just renewed my contract today with AT&T and got a GREAT deal. I got a Nokia 3200 phone and after all my credits and in store rebates I will have $130 in credits on my phone bill. Pretty sweet!

Re: Is your main telephone a regular phone or a cell phone?

We have both for my husband he mainly uses his cell because of work and my cell is used mainly for calling him on my way home from school or if he needs me to do something for him in town.
Other than that I use my home phone for everything else.

Re: Is your main telephone a regular phone or a cell phone?

We will go to cell phones only, in May. Our daughter works for Nextel, and we'll switch to that (we now have SprintPCS). The reason we're waiting is so we can keep our present cell phone number. That won't be available in our area until May.

We RARELY use our regular phone. Our parents use it mostly, when they call us. So it won't be too tough to make the switch to all cellular.

I don't think we can have our home number, just the same number we have now on our cell phone. That would be WONDERFUL if we can have our present home number! I seriously doubt if we'll be able to do that here. We can NEVER do what everyone else can. For example, cable television STILL isn't available for us. Oh, ALL around us has it, but we're in this little pocket of real estate that doesn't have it.

Can consumers port a wireline number to a wireless phone?

Wireline to wireless porting will be possible in some cases. Consumers interested in porting a number from a wireline to a wireless phone should check with the prospective new wireless carrier to see if wireline to wireless porting is an option for them.

Yes, we have DirectTV, speaking of which, we just got our monthly bill today, and I see they've raised the price AGAIN. Second time in a year.

Re: Is your main telephone a regular phone or a cell phone?

We only use cell phones. I still have the phone hookup for DSL, but all I have is an answering machine hooked up so it never rings. I got so sick of answering the phone to telemarketers...those were about the only calls I received. At one point I was paying over $60 for the caller id, privacy manager and voicemail. It just didn't make sense.

There are times when I miss my regular phone because the reception in my house is bad in a few spots. But it keeps getting better as they add more towers. I sure don't miss the phone ringing all the time. I also call all of the 800 numbers from my phone and if I "really" want to talk to somebody, I can always use calling cards!
