Do you believe in Mother's Intuition?

This is not something that can be proven, but I most definitely believe in it. Sometimes it isn't correct, but in my own personal case, 9 times out of 10, my intuition about my kids has been right on the money, and the few times when I've ignored it, I wish I hadn't.

Do you believe in it?

Re: Do you believe in Mother's Intuition?

Absolutely.

I also believe in Father's intuition. I think that my DH's is way stronger than mine. If he has a strong feeling about something, I go with it. I didn't believe him one time and I have regretted it ever since.

Re: Do you believe in Mother's Intuition?

I know it exists.
My oldest daughter always asks me, how I know the stuff I know. SHe accuses me of having cameras and spies - she does not get away with much and I almost always know when sonething is wrong.

God Bless!!

I don't know if it's true, but I think alot comes from really knowing your kids too.

Re: Do you believe in Mother's Intuition?

I believe that people in general are intuitive. I guess I'd say yes to Mother's Intuition.

No doubt that play a big part in it, but some things can't even be explained by that. It's sort of like when someone says they had a bad feeling about taking a trip, cancelled it, and then later found out the plane crashed.

I would agree, but not all people are perceptive to it.

Absolutely, but it's happened.

Actually, one time, we were ready to leave to go on vacation to Pennsylvania, and all week, I just had this uneasy feeling about the trip. When the time came to leave, we were ready to head out the door, and the power went off. But only in one part of the house. Our deep freeze and our refrigerator were affected, and it was VERY hot summer (August, I think). We had to find out what the problem was, which took all day. Turned out we had a short out in the garage. If we had left just one minute sooner, we would have had a HUGE loss of frozen food.

And if that wasn't enough, that night, when I got into our bed and I was sitting there reading a book, all of a sudden, I felt wet where my butt was. AND NO, I DID NOT WET THE BED! We had a waterbed at the time, and I got up, unzipped the outside of it, and there was water LYING in the casing. It had sprung a leak. It had to have happened in the last day or so, because well, we sleep in it every night, and things were fine the night before. I shudder to think if we had been gone for a week, and that thing kept leaking. It maybe wouldn't have gone onto the floor, but OH WHAT A MESS that would have been anyway!

Re: Do you believe in Mother's Intuition?

I don't believe in most "supernatural" things, but I definitely believe in Mother's Intuition. My experience with it was on a more primitive level than what you are talking about. When my son was 5 days old, I remember looking into his eyes and saying to my mother, "There's something different about his brain. I'm going to have to run like crazy to keep feeding it." (I thought perhaps he was a genius.)

Later, as he got older, I knew there was something different about him. I talked to doctors numerous times, who brushed me off as simply being "an overly-concerned older Mom." Then, when he was 4, we found out he has autism. I've met many mothers who have been through the same thing, with the "experts" pooh-poohing them, only to find out that it's true; "Mother knows best!"

Re: Do you believe in Mother's Intuition?

I believe in intuition overall.

Some people are sensitive enough to pick up all kinds of things but usually mothers are close enough to their children that they can pick this up if nothing else.

Re: Do you believe in Mother's Intuition?

I absolutely believe in mother's intuition. When I was pregnant with my first, I was sure I was having a boy. Even after the doc told me at the ultrasound that it was a girl, I was still sure it was a boy. I recall telling my husband as we left that I still felt like it was a boy and he thought I was absolutely nuts. About a week and a half before giving birth, I bought a little blue take-me-home outfit "just in case". My mom actually yelled at me for wasting my money since I had recently lost my job. But sure enough, I gave birth to a bouncing baby boy...and DH sure was glad he didn't have to go out and purchase a new outfit to bring our little bundle home in. I wish more people would have listened too me because now I have a whole tote full of pink clothes that I couldn't return or exchange. Hopefully this time we're having a girl. We'll find out Friday, but I think even if the doc tells me it's a girl, I'll be uneasy until I actually have the baby and can confirm it. That said, I do believe it is a girl this time around...

Re: Do you believe in Mother's Intuition?

sure. It can also be your subconscious putting together a bunch of clues that are quite factual but your conscious hasn't put them together yet. But your subconscious has put them together and figured out the message and tells you to do something that then feels like gut instinct.

No I don't believe in mother's intuition! It's a bunch of hokey!

Excuse me, my phone is ringing.

Well, errr...that was my mother and she told me I should apologize. She said she didn't know why, but that I should.

Sorry ya'll.
