Could I get some quick well-wishes?

My mother has been getting super bad dizzy spells lately. She's had them off and on for a while, but they're getting really bad and frequent.

Then just last week while she was on vacation in Lake Tahoe there was a 2-hour period where she didn't know where she was. She also wasn't sure that my dad died almost 2 years ago, she kept asking her friend the same questions over and over.

She did go to the doctor whe she got back and has a MRI and Cat Scan scheduled for the end of this month.

She just called me a little bit ago and was having another really bad dizzy spell and was "crawling up the stairs to go lay down".

I told her she should just go to the emergency room. But I doubt she will.

I just lost my dad, I don't want to lose my mom too!

So good thoughts and prayers would be helpful please.

OMG Shainie, this does not sound good at all, I will keep your mom in my prayers. I hope whatever it is that's wrong with her can be fixed.

I too will keep her in my prayers and thoughts. I would also suggest that she have those tests as soon as possible. Her symptoms seem far too frequent to wait that long. Perhaps she can call the Dr. and get them moved up. If not, the ER would have to do them. Love and good thoughts to you both.

A few questions: Do you and your mom live in the same city? If not, can one of her friends arrange to stay with her and keep you posted on her condition? I'd be concerned that she may be alone and if she needs help, someone should be with her. What did the doctor advise your mom to do until she can have the tests next week (bed rest, don't drive, etc.)? Did he/she give any indication of what the suspect the problem is?

If I were in your shoes, I would feel better and in more control of the situation if I had more information.

Oh man, I wish she would go to the ER right now. What if she is having a mini stroke? they have medicine to minimize the effects but it has to be given quickly.

Thanks all. I called her back a little after posting this and asked her if I should come pick her up and bring her to the ER. She said no, that she just needed to rest a bit.

She said she gets bad, then it goes away after a while.

I can't make her go! Her tests are on Monday, but what if it's a problem that can't wait until Monday? At least the ER would keep her until they had some answers.

She went in before about the dizzy spells, and they said it was an inner ear thing. (Just like the doctor telling my MIL that the spot on her liver was just a shadow on the x-ray - when it was actually liver cancer).

Anyway, I'm going to keep tabs on her tomorrow, and if she has another bad spell, I'm going to insist she gets to the ER.

I hope your mom is feeling better! I know it's hard when they say they won't go to the ER, but if she starts having another spell, please call an ambulance as those are signs of a stroke and the faster she's seen, the better.

Shainie! You have my thoughts and prayers and I worry about you- I know how much stress and worry you have right now.

If she has tests on Monday- can you not call the DR and see if they can move it up? OR take her to ER- you aren't going to rest until you know what's going on and Monday is a week away.

Hope you are able to resolve situation..my thoughts are with you. Could have numerous thing happening. Could be some of the things you said or maybe Vitamin B1 def. Take a look at this link below also.
