I'm taking a little break

Just taking a short break from my homework. I am in my LAST CLASS for my ed. requirements right now, and the final class is tomorrow evening. As always, we have a huge project due tomorrow night and an even bigger one has to be mailed to the instructor by next Monday. I procrastinated until today (Sunday) to even start on it because I am just so burned out on school I can't take it anymore.

My DH says to just "get through it" with a passing grade, but I hate that I am so apathetic. How can I motivate myself to stay at that level??

Re: I'm taking a little break

This is the first semester that I haven't actually studied for my classes. Well, one class is open book tests, even though the teacher makes them really hard, I'm not kidding, so I guess I'd better study for the next one so I can sail through it. My other class is graphic arts, and, we don't actually have tests in there, as long as we can produce what the teacher wants on the computer, then she's happy. I only go into art lab every now and then to brush up on things, they have a tutor so it makes life much easier. I'm usually stressed out, burnt out from school but I guess I'm not letting things bother me this semester, that's a first for me. Everyone needs a little break every now and then Kristin, I'll all for that.

Well ... it is a little hard when you have a new baby to care for ... on top of everything else ... and that your mind and spirit has burned out on the schooling. I really feel for you! I guess bite the bullet and just do it, and hopefully soon you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

A light at the end of the tunnel! I just received my student teaching placement this morning. I am going to be teaching 5th grade!! OMG, I am so excited and scared. All of my observations have been with early elementary. I hope they don't chew me up and spit me out. My cooperating teacher sounds so nice. I just can't believe I'm finally there.

The best thing is that the school is practically down the street...maybe 10 minutes away. I was so worried that they were going to send me somewhere far away from home and I would have to worry about driving 45 minutes every day.

I cried when I found out because it's such a relief. They don't tell you anything about your placement beforehand and I have heard horror stories about this whole process.

How exciting!
My DD is a 5th grader and they are such a fun group of kids. My DD's friends are are great. In 3rd grade, there were a lot of silly arguments and hurt feelings, but at this age, they've outgrown it and all get along really well (I know, just wait till they're teens!) The boys (at times) can be a little wild, but they're old enough so sit and pay attention. At that age they can really have thoughtful, intelligent conversations with you. I love volunteering in their classrom. Problem is, at that grade level, the teachers don't rely on the parents as much *sniff, sniff*.

Best wishes on your new position!
