| libraries are cool. Most have very high speed internet access now, if you show your card and/or drivers license, they typically give you at least 45minutes of FREE access, or more if there's not a line. Many libraries also sell used books, a small fee and it goes to their fundraising. Some even have cappacino/gourmet coffe stands ! Have fun!

| Re: I am going to the library Libraries are awesome. I always find books that are helpful to my subjects in school, and like you said, you can rent DVDs there, plus, for anyone without a computer, you can use their computers free of charge, providing they are not all in use. We have a branch in the next town over from us, and they have more computers than the library in our town. I've used it once for schoolwork, and the librarian actually helped me get info off the computer for one of my school courses, so that helped me out alot.

| Re: I am going to the library Our library system is not as well-funded as large cities, but we have been able to check out videos and cd's for quite a while. If we have dvd's, I haven't noticed any yet, but my brother always checks them out from his large city library. Our library catalog is also online, and that's the way I reserve all my books - it's so very convenient! - and then just go in to pick them up when I see that they are being held for me. Online, I can see all my requests, what position I'm in line for it, what I have checked out, due dates, etc. It's so nice.

| Re: I am going to the library Our local library is a small one, but they've got a DVD collection around 300... But at any one time they usually only have about 50 or so available, they are so popular! That's the only "problem" with checking them out is that I usually have to place a reserve/hold for most of the good/new titles... But as soon as they are in I get a phone call to let me know I can pick them up... And their "late fees" are less then the rental stores! LOL Right now we have these library DVD's: Piglet's BIG Movie American Wedding (American Pie 3) Gangs of New York Bedknobs and Broomsticks Simone (Al Pacino) I was actually surprised that our little small town library had such movies as: American Pie 1, 2, and 3; Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back what with all the profanity and such that are in those movies... But they have them... Now in the library two towns over from us, I've got a library card for their COUNTY (Mahoning) wide library system... Access to a heck of a lot of books and other media!!! But I think I've got late dues there right now... ![]()

| It is funny you bumped this I was just about to leave to go and bring back 3 movies and pick up two more... I have really been enjoying the dvd's from the library I found out that our library web site even has a way you can put 10 items on a list if they are unavailable and when they come in they will call you to come pick them up... And even send the items to the library closer to my home ![]()

| many libraries also loan cds. There are courses to learn Spanish, Italian, etc. Motivational tapes ,poetry ,and many novels and nonfiction books too! I have also checked out music cds as diverse as Alicia Keys, Willie Nelson, Stan Getz, etc !

| Re: I am going to the library That's the same system my library uses ... POLARIS ... it's so neat! That's good you guys mentioned about the cd's, too. I had forgotten about that, since I don't check them out, but I know that DD does check them out for herself. It's a good way to see if you like the music or not. Also, there are books on tape, but I'd rather read than listen to a book.
