Burdoning a Baby?

I was reading a site on our news channel just now about a baby's burdon with mothers who shoot up and use meth and other drugs. Especially if the mother is a repeat offender shouldn't the state take responsibility and take those babies away from their mothers? What are the chances of getting repeat offenders to quit and/or not get pregnant? Does the law not justify stopping those mothers from having more children? Can young teens ever realize the impact on their child if they are addicted?

I agree, the state should take the babies away from them. They really should go into some kind of rehab. I think once they are cleaned up, drug free, that they should be able to get their babies back. A mother addicted to drugs is not the environment for a baby to be in or any children for that matter.

In a lot of cases, the state does take babies away from those women, although sometimes only until they finish a course of rehab. But "the state" doesn't constantly monitor every person everywhere, it takes someone to notice and report the situation before anything can happen. And a lot of people in those situations live in areas where that sort of behavior is common, or considered "normal", or where people don't like to have anything to do with the government or other authorities.

Would you say though that those girls would hang with "their' crowd after rehab? So if so...it would in my opinion take a while for someone to notice their behaviors again??
