When is the best time of the year to buy a car?

Fellow DODer's correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that in and around October is the best time because thats when the new cars come out and the best deals abound so that they can make room for them.

I think the best time to buy is around January. They are trying really hard to get rid of the previous years cars. Now if you are wanting to get the upcoming year model, then I would buy around October/November.

Always wait until the end of a month. Quotas are due in for bonuses and salesmen will cut their commission (as will sales managers) to make that sale that will get them in to the next bonus category.

Right now would be a great time if you want to buy a new 2003....if you can find one. Some dealerships still have some models left on their lots & are seriously trying to get them out of there. A new 2004 would be good too. Telos is right about waiting until the end of the month. The sales people are trying to get as many sales in as possible.

I think it is October 'cause that's when I bought mine and they reduced the price on a used car I bought. I'm sure the leftover cars from that year were also cheaper. Also, if you buy a car at the very end of the month, the last week, the salesmen are trying to make their quotas for the month, so they will give you a better deal at that time as well, like, the last Friday of the month.

NOW! The lots are full of 2003 models and they're running out of places to put them!
