Question How many moth balls would I put down to deter mice in my garage?

The whole box, or will just a few moth balls be enough? A girl I work with said they don't like the smell of them. I don't think I'll like the smell of my garage if I put too many of them.

Depending on how big your garage is... If it were me and I had a 2 car garage I would put the whole box LOL I do not like mice at all. I used to put them under my trailer when I lived in it and I would put a whole box spread out all underneath...

I much prefer the smell of moth balls over mice

We put moth balls around our house when we did that when we lived in Fort Smith to deter the snakes. I'd probably use as much as possible or as much as your nose can take

We have snakes too, garter snakes, and some kind of water snakes in the summer months. I haven't seen any in the garage yet. I'll take care of the mice problem first. Maybe if I find some of those snakes and put them in my garage, it'd be dinner for them

I have heard also that cloves have the same effect as moth balls. I don't have time to research it now, but I'd rather have my garage smelling like cloves than moth balls any day!! If I get time to research it some, I will let you know what I find

Re: How many moth balls would I put down to deter mice in my garage?

I tried this, but it set off my asthma big time. That had never happened from just quick sniff of moth balls in the box, but just a few about killed me. A neighbor had told us to use them. We had a mouse in our kitchen and our cats were just not catching it, despite good effort. DH decided to put a few under the cabinet in the kitchen. He put two in a small gap in the kick plate. Soon it permeated my entire kitchen. He had to put gum on a coat hanger to get it back out. It still took a few days for the smell to leave all together and my breathing was affected for weeks. So my advice would be start small and add more if need be. Make sure no children or pets can get to them either.
