| Re: A mouse must have been in my car, ugh! We've had mice get into our RV, although it's shut up tightly. Also, one got in my son's trunk one time and chewed a hole in the back of a really nice suit jacket (ugh!). And, we have found two nests in the engine compartments of two of our rigs. (We are in the country.) They can really do a lot of damage - and fast! If I were you, I would set a mouse trap in your car (where no one will set it off) and also several places in your garage, and I'd do it very soon. Mice multiply very quickly. Good luck!

The scats are about the size of a grain of rice. Be careful handling any scat as some can carry diseases that infect humans.

| Re: A mouse must have been in my car, ugh! That's it Toby, exactly, it is mouse scat. Thanx for posting that. Now I'd better get to the store to get some traps.

| Re: A mouse must have been in my car, ugh! I cannot tell you how many wires those little pests have damaged/destroyed in our riding mowers/tractors. They build nests in all of the mowers and even in the wood splitter. Hee hee...BTW, I'M potty trained Figured I'd better say it before Telos asked![]()

| Re: A mouse must have been in my car, ugh! Thanks for all the mouse talk! About an hour ago as I was sitting here on the couch I heard my cat making loud meowing noises (which she hasn't done since being spayed) so I called her in here, she has something in her mouth...it was a mouse! She let it go it ran, she picked it up in her mouth ran around with it, put it down, it ran and so on for about 20 minutes and finally she killed it! My hubby gets off work in an hour and 20 minutes, I closed the french doors to the back of the house and put a blanket under the door, he can deal with it when he gets home. I dont' do mice (I have had to throw 2 out in the 3 years we have been here) I don't do any dead animals, I hate rigamortis (sp?)at all. It gives me the willies! I guess with all the rain and flooding we have had, the little mouse was looking for a warm home for the night. I have such a good kitty We have had 5 mice in the house in the last 3 years. The first 2 we caught. Hubby ran one into a jar and took it to work and let it go in a field. The second one was running around in the living room and I had taken my jeans off earlier and they were laying on the floor, the mouse ran up the pants leg and hubby grabbed it and caught it took it to the field by work. The third mouse made it through the glue trap (saw lots of fur in it) but later got caught in a trap. The 4th and 5th my cat got for me! Oh I hate mice! Ever since I was a teenager and I stepped on one barefooted in the dark--it was so nasty! To this day I either leave my hall light on at night or I shut it off and pretty much RUN to my bed!

| Re: A mouse must have been in my car, ugh! I recently found out a mouse had been "dining" under my kitchen sink. I tried the regular traps, but the mouse could set off the trap every night and still get away scott free. Then I bought a glue trap. It was able to run over the glue trap quickly and not get stuck. THEN I got a brilliant idea. I put a small dab of peanut butter right in the middle of the glue trap. I knew that the mouse would not run over it quickly but would stop to eat the peanut butter. Sure enough, the next morning, I had caught the little bugger. |

I forgot to mention that peanut butter is really effective on mouse traps (an exterminator friend told me that). It really sticks to and covers the bait area very well. After a couple of days, it will harden, so you will need to rebait it.

| Re: A mouse must have been in my car, ugh! We have always found this trick to be good when setting a trap, use peanut butter but before putting the peanut butter on put some thread all around the silver part (where you put the food) on the trap, then put the peanut butter on top of it. Even if he doesn't get stuck in the peanut butter, his teeth will get stuck in the thread and the trap goes off every time on top of them!! ![]()

| Re: A mouse must have been in my car, ugh! I just had my car checked at the Honda dealer and they said the car is fine, but it does smell different now, so they must have cleaned off the engine or something. At first they said they found a nest near the blower for the heater, but they were mistaken, it was someone elses white car. I feel bad for those other people though. I just bought a few traps and some D-con traps, I'm going to put one trap underneath my car on the concrete floor in the garage, I'll just have to manuever a bit driving into the garage so I don't drive over it, but I think it'll work for me. This way they might go there first to eat before they decide to enter my car again. I got a bunch more to put around in the garage and in the dormer up above the garage. The guy at the Honda dealer said it's the time of year mice come in looking for warmth. Guess I'll just have to keep an eye out for them now. When I checked out the D-con the cashier said to me "I see we're going hunting tonight" I hope you guys get rid of your mouse problems soon. I'd hate if one were to get in my house. I think I'd run outside screaming, I'm such a wimp when it comes to things like that.

| Re: A mouse must have been in my car, ugh! Mice don't bother me, but their destruction does. We had some mice chewing on the back of a new couch, and, boy, did that make me mad. My exterminator friend said it would totally shock you how small of an opening a mouse can get through. I hope your plan of attack works! Go get 'em!
