Angry It's Tornado Season Again!

I am setting here with one eye on the 'puter and one on the tv as a severe thunderstorm rolls through Texas. There is circular motion all along the t-storm front. So far, we are dodging the bullet, but some are just waiting for the hammer to fall. Where I used to live (about 100 miles north) there is all kinds or tornadic activity in the thunder heads.

You people who live in the immediate area Northeast of Texas better batten down your hatches.

Ah, Springtime in Tornado Alley. Don't you love it?

I'm in Minnesota and the only thing falling from this sky is snow! (For now).

Re: It's Tornado Season Again!

No tornadoes here, but that doesn't mean they couldn't happen here. It was about 3 years ago when one touched down a few towns away from us. That was scary enough. The sky looked really weird that day, a strange color. It pays to have a basement just in case. At least it's not right at your back door Telos.

Re: It's Tornado Season Again!

We're getting hammered for over 3 hour now with the worst winter storm in years and years. Hail that's coming down like snow, torrential rain - 1 in/hr, heavy and frequent every minute lightning strikes, flooding, thunder, wind. My pool just overflowed onto the cooldeck.

Our tornado season starts later, but now a big snowstorm is heading our way with up to 12 inches predicted for tomorrow!

Re: It's Tornado Season Again!

It was quite a busy day with storm season here in Oklahoma. Our storm hit right as it was time for the kids to come home so the buses left them at school and extra hour before coming to get them (which IS GOOD! my son's school is the designated town shelter!) My daughter said they had to do the old "duck and cover" 3 times in the hall today.

We ended up with some shingle damage and LOTS of flooding!

Re: It's Tornado Season Again!

Eeeeks...ya'll stay safe. We're having exceptionally warm weather here...then it's going to cool off fast, UGH...those days make me paranoid. Our official "tornado season" doesn't start for quite some time (whew),

Re: It's Tornado Season Again!

Yep we had the warnings too and the storms. We have or should i say had a canopy set up outside until it blew across the drive hit my truck stractched it real good, went over the truck and slammed against the house and came to rest halfway on the porch until the wind picked up again and it is now wedge between a tree and the side of the deck. Jamie and I tried to move it but it's just to heavy. The wind was rwally bad here and they say we are going to have another storm roll thru soon. Maybe nothing else will fly around. LOL Why does this always happened when Mark is at work , nothing happens when he is home. LOL

Re: It's Tornado Season Again!

Last year I discovered that it's possible to find and grab four cats, a flashlight, radio, candles, matches, and a can of Coke and take them all to an interior hallway in less than two minutes after the tornado sirens sounded. I had kept putting off getting emergency supplies together, but now they're on a small table in the hallway.

Tornadoes...ugh. I'd rather put up with a foot of snow and no electricity than cringe terrified in a corner for 20 minutes waiting for the roof to blow off.

Re: It's Tornado Season Again!

Ah yes, I remember tornado days. When I was a girl growing up in Iowa, it seemed like the month of May was the worse for them.
Fortunately, the area of Colorado that I live in now never gets tornados. I certainly don't miss running to the basement!

We started the late afternoon with rain, and a few minutes ago when I went out it was snowing. A very heavy, wet slushy snow.
