Red face What did everyone do today?

I went to 4 antique shops, bought a sewing stool made out of tiger wood to use as seating in my bathroom, the top lifts off to store sewing supplies, or whatever I like, and it has a tapestry type cloth on it and only cost me $20.00.

I also bought a wedding band, very ornate 14k exceptional quality, you could just tell to look at it, for only $100.00. The gold is thick on it, it is absolutely gorgeous! This guy buys out estates. I'm going to wear it on my middle finger which it does fit. I don't think you could touch that ring for under $800.00 anywhere. The dealer said it is rose gold, even though it looks yellow gold except in certain light, and that it's either from the late 1800's, 1920's or 1930's, he's not sure. In any case, I'm just glad I got it before someone else spotted it. It's rare to find a gem like that.

My two other finds were Occupied Japan pieces for my BIL, I save them for X'mas gifts for him when I see a good deal. One is a little piano, only $5.00, the other was a couple for $12.00, oh, I almost forgot, a piece of fabric that says 1939 World's Fair on it for $3.00. I had a great day! I think I got some pretty awesome bargains.

Sorry to hear you had to work today blue, it'll be nice having those 3 days off though don't you think? You deserve it after working those kinds of hours.

Re: What did everyone do today?

I want to go shopping with you 3t (:
Sounds like you had a good day.
My daughter had a Knowledge Bowl competition today. Her team placed 6th out of 18 which was pretty good considering the school her team represented is rather small. They all did a great job but the trip to the competition and back was a bit long. I am extremely tired now. Now waiting for her friend to come over for a sleepover and I am hitting the sack early!

YOur ring story reminded me of my sister. My family is not wealthy by any means. I few years back my grandmother was clearing out some of her stuff and gave my sister (she was 10 at the time) this gaudy looking ring. We all thought it was costume jewelry, it was big with big stones on a rough silver looking setting. My sister wore this ring to school every day and it was kind of like a plaything to her. A few weeks later she found this little gold ring in the road and it was all bent up, my dad took her to the jewelers to have it fixed and just for fun, appraised. As a joke she took the gaudy ring my grandmother gave her off and asked to have that appraised too. The jeweler told my parents they needed to have it insured asap. It was antique, real silver and the stones were real diamonds. He appraised the ring at $7,000 (yes, three zeros!!!) Needless to say my mom put it in safe keeping until she was old enough to appreciate something of that value. No more running around the school playground with it. The ring she found, 10 K and a small diamond, he appraised it at $80.00 - how cool was that !

God Bless!!

Re: What did everyone do today?

Today I did not do much other than I got the top two shelves of my pantry cleaned out

That is a big accomplishment for me because it took over a hour to do that. Once I got rid of all the junk I had so much room. NOw I just keep going open the door to look and see how neat it is Tomorrow I will do the other 4 shelves

Not a whole lot today. Did a few dishes and went to Biggs and to Saks Fifth Ave outlet just to look around. Came home and made JTM hoagies for dinner. Now I'm watching Forest Gump. Exciting huh?

Re: What did everyone do today?

It was gorgeous in Minnesota today - near 50. Shane (19months) and I went to Toys r Us and bought a new toybox and a few other things we really didn't need, I stopped at a gas station and vacuumed out my car and got gas, went to Walmart and got a few things (pillow, shower rod, shower curtain, fuel filter, etc.), then I stopped at a bead store in town I haven't been to yet and got a few beads to make my half-sister a name bracelet. After that came home and relaxed.

Days like this make me eager for spring!

I either didn't do much, or did a lot, depending on your point of view. We had an all-day thing at the synagogue today, so the whole family was there from 9am until a little after 6pm. We had Shabbat services, food, singing and dancing, study sessions, games, etc. So we did a lot, but we didn't get anything done around the house, or any errands run, so in that regard it was a "lost" day.

Re: What did everyone do today?

I vacuumed, scrubbed toilets, did the laundry, the dishes, washed my bitty puppy (so now she is smelling good and is all fluffy and cute), and then I made chicken teriyaki in the pressure cooker for dinner. Not an exciting day, but at least the puppy is cute again.

Re: What did everyone do today?

I took care of my son today, who has double ear infections, here in the next few weeks he has to go have his tonsils and adenoids removed (he is having horrible breathing problems, sleep apena, all kinds of symtpomns because they are enlarged) it hasn't been a great week for us!

I am probably more worried about this surgery than anyone, I know he will be fine, and it will be sooooo good for him, but he is only 5 years old...he's my baby and I don't want him to be scared, worried, or hurt!

I hope your son's surgery goes well. I know you are worried, I just hope he isn't too much. It's difficult to see a child in pain.

worshipfulheart, too bad you didn't live in Connecticut, I'd gladly take you shopping, that's what I do best. $7,000 for that ring? Wow! That's amazing! I just love go to antique stores 'cause it's like being in someones attic, you never know what you're going to find, it's so much fun.

I hope all my DOD friends have a great day today!

Re: What did everyone do today?

oh hush!

It's cloudy raining and cool outside, it's one of those days where you just want to sleep all day, but you can't because you have 2 kids (one sick) to watch, laundry for the school week to do and about a million other things!

Re: What did everyone do today?

Guess I'll be doing the laundry tonight. Today I cleaned off the living-room table. You could hardly see that we had a table under all that clutter. I wonder how long it'll take us to mess it up again

I just got back from the thrift store, found 2 cute skirts and a stretch top to match one of them, then a woven black leather belt.

Then, I drove to Wal-mart, they had a great sale in the menswear department, picked up a shirt for hubby for just $3.00.

I get to study tonight for a test at school on Wednesday, four chapters. I hope I do well on it.

Re: What did everyone do today?

My fiance is out of town so I always like to do a little something to change the house well he is gone. He hates the wood trim in our bedroom so I am finally getting around to painting it (a whitish color-walls are brown) I also went shopping today and bought some grape vine to put above the kitchen cabinets. Although I bet he doesnt notice those. I am hoping to buy a large print to hang above our bed & I am going to hang the two water fountain I bought but still havent hung.
I would love to do so much more but it all cost $ so Ill save some for his next trip.
Hope he notices my hard work!
